Got half my rabids done. (3). The first one was the older buck and NOTHING about him was easy 🤢
He took me forever but the next two were growouts and that went pretty fast. Hoping I am not in pain tomorrow so I can do the rest cuz I need to start weaning Snowy’s 10. 😳

Boone totally enjoyed himself, stealing parts and rabbit heads. Pig got the rest and I’m dehydrating the ears, livers, etc for treats.

Another day gone. But a good one ☺️

Two more out of 4 rabids left to do. The first three are in the walk-in as I had no room for them and this morning’s 2 are in a big
stock pot in the entry fridge. Fell asleep and woke kinda rubbery and wobbly but I got dinner made and the critters fed. Another great day ☺️

Ground 3 of the biggest rabbits for the dogs and parted out the 4 that were left. I vacuum sealed 1 as a whole rabbit, flaps and all (but cut up in parts) and the rest I froze all the legs together and all the flaps and straps in another bag. Not sure how I will like to do it best. We will need to have company because as I recall, it’s VERY filling.
We need a rabbit recipe thread. Is there already one on here?

Boone has been awesome. I was in such terrible pain yesterday I couldn’t get up to get water and could barely get my painkillers down. He stayed with me all day long, refusing to even go out when Randy tried to let him relieve himself. Until I was able to open the door myself for him, he wouldn’t leave. Like any good LGD, he lays where he can see me, so he follows me everywhere. He escorts me to and from the bathroom, came in the craft room while I was fixing Randy’s workshirts, and lays here when I am in the kitchen. ❤️ It’s nice having company again. I love Fen but he was always outside playing
Also, Boone is beginning to play fetch with me so hopefully I can train him to bring me what I need, and hand me what I drop, as I constantly fumble things. Training sheppies is definitely easier than task training LGD’s 😂

I just want sheep for us as we eat a lot of lamb. They would live with Mister so they would be safe. Boone sleeps outside so he can deter any predators trying to get into the coop again and will have access to Mister’s pasture in the off chance a coyote is dumb enough to jump in. The cougars don’t “normally” come in this close, although they have in the past. The first week we were here one attacked a cowdog in front of our house, but in 15 years we have only seen 3 by the headquarters where we live
Boone knows he’s my boy ❤️

Helped feed this morning but wasn’t strong enough to rake everything out yet. It will need to be done daily in the summer. I hope to be able to move the rabbits by then and get them closer to the garden. It will make the coop feel bigger for the chicks even though they can go everywhere in it now as the hutch is off the ground.
Got a loaf of sourdough started, will bake it tomorrow. Made ham & potato soup for tonight, baked Randy some cookies from dough I made and froze, still need to make rosemary French bread for tonight to go with the soup. That’s about all I can manage for today. Hoping he will help me finish the kitchen island tonight.
One of the ranch dogs ran Fen all the way home. He opened the front door and skidded into the house. Poor little guy. He will probably follow Randy back to the shop after lunch. He still has severe FOMO. (Fear Of Missing Out)
Boone is sweet as sugar. ❤️

Idk how many days pain has been overwhelming. Trip to Calif cancelled. No way could I cope with the drive, a strange house, 2 dogs and being alone. Someday but not soon I struggle with days like these, wondering if it’s going to get worse or if it will ease up again. Can’t make plans. Boone sleeps all day. I moved his favorite bed into my room so I can hear him snore. It’s lonely.
Hoping for this to pass, soon.
Trying to think good thoughts. Remembering happy moments. There were so many…

Well alone with 2 adorable dogs sounds better than a LONG drive....just that 😁 so, I'd say you dodged a bullet -- one that would only increase & lengthen your pain, plus the anxiety. Try to relax and smile at the good decision (esp since not being a grands visit). Turn on TV for noise.

Oh, practice acting sorry you couldn't go, when hubs returns. 🙄☺️

Well, 1 cute dog is here with me. Fenny leaves every morning with Randy and comes hime with him at night. It’s what makes him happy. He has all the smarts and skills to be a Service Dog but not the desire. 🫤 Kinda like expecting your kid to grow up and be a Dr but he joins a hippy colony instead 😂
