I’m so proud of Boone! He’s starting to pick my phone up by the strap and hand it to me, he picked up my glasses and gave them to me, and he voluntarily brought me a shoe! He’s starting to “get” it!! And he lets me hug him and kiss him whenever I want (Fen doesn’t like being petted except on his butt when he does the happy hiney dance)

So, IF you have the product in house -- try it. If it helps great but, it will do no harm

I had a really good, productive day. Fed all the critters, got Mister’s sheath cleaned as it was bothering him last night so I removed a couple of beans and softened everything up with Excaliber. Washed out all the rabbits’ water bowls, baked and sliced 2 boules of sourdough, cut out all the pieces for Talsie’s raghorse I hope to sew tomorrow. Kitchen cleaned, did a little training with Boone, drove to the shop to find cowboy after taking bread to their house and finding no one at home, fed the rest of the mealworms to the hens, found Boone’s first critter kill (maybe Fen’s but Boone was alone for a bit this morning), made Randy lunch, took a nap with Boone, fed again and made dinner.
When I was feeding I had to stand on my toes to look over the fence to find the nurse cows and wound up eyeball to eyeball with Boone. At almost 6 mo hes as tall as me!
We fed tonight, tomorrow is Boones vet appt. and pick up my pain Rx.
So, so very happy with BooBear. If he would stop pushing Fen away when I play with him, he would be perfect

So vet thinks it’s a skin infection. Not a hot spot and not an allergy so we have topical antibiotic for it. He also has a large swelling on his hind foot that no one noticed because you have to see it at just the right angle, which I did on the wY out of town so back to the vet we went. Possibly a bite, or very bad bruise so anti inflammatory for that.
When we first left the ranch, we were about 6 miles down the road and Boone started to whine. He wasn’t happy so I told Randy “you know last time he did that, two months ago, he had to poop” (he didn’t pull over in time) he pulled over this time!
I got Boone out. We walked a little ways and just short of him dragging me through a Barbwire fence, he stopped and pee’d. He was quiet the next 2 hr to town. We went in the (only) coffeeshop for lunch leaving Boone in the ‘burb. I wasn’t comfortable with it so figured I would at least give him a chance as I have both a leash wrap and scarf to identify him as an SDiT. The worst case was doing like I did with Fen a couple times and take him back out to the ‘burb. Boone walked beside me just fine into the restroom, then after washing my hands, he walked just fine to our table. I asked him to go under (he has NEVER been under a table as Randy likes to eat in front of TV) He climbed under, turned around and laid down quietly while we ate. Fen doesn’t even do that as well yet.
He was great at the feedstore again, greeting everyone and getting free cookies. He passed a little dog on the way out with no more than a glance. He got a cookie from the gas station attendant. We went through the grocery store with no problems other than he enjoyed looking as we walked by stuff. At the pharmacy he sat next to me while I got my stuff and a lady was asking questions about him. He was an incredibly good boy.
The 2nd time at the vet, they were all happy to see him again so soon and he let the vet tech take him from the front to the back without me. He was fine Hopefully he will keep being as content as today and get stronger at tasking for me

Who could have predicted that an Anatolian would make a service dog? It is a testament to your lifetime of knowledge and training and Boones intelligence and willingness to please you.
Note to anyone reading this, this is not the normal behavior for an Anatolian, so don’t run out to buy one to make a service dog.

Definitely do not expect to use any LGD breed for public work. We are so far from town, we go to all the same places and more or less see all the same faces. When we walk in, people immediately say “Boone”. He remembers them. But there is no guarantee he will continue to remain friendly or neutral in public as a mature dog. I’m not trying to be negative but in reality he could still fail, which us why I continue with Fen’s task training even though he doesn’t want to be my SD. He would work for me in the hospital when he knew Randy was ok and even then, he was reluctant to perform tasks he knows well, for me.
