Oh man! I’m so sorry about your friend! At least I was already pretty long in the tooth before this manifested. I met a young lady that was dx’d while in college. She had just gotten married. It came in so quickly it was a total shock for her. It hit her like a freight train and she had to quit school just a couple months shy of finishing her Graduate Degree. 6 months later she was gone. Yet I know another woman who has had it 40 years, and early protocol medication is still working for her and she’s living a normal life. It’s just a really weird and unpredictable condition. I’m so grateful I was able to ride again this summer! I hope my good fortune lasts awhile. The Anatolian pup will hopefully be able to assist me with mobility in a couple years when he’s mature enough. Fen is my right hand man for the most part, when he’s not making mischief. ☺️
I hope your friend has good results with your comfrey salve. It has really awakened my interest in herbal medicine and I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of results I will get from some of the other concoctions from what you sent me! Have you used the wild lettuce as a pain killer?

No, I haven't. BUT unless I have a sore muscle -- which stretches & an aspirin usually cure -- I have no conditions requiring more. Fortunately, healthy. That's why I chuckled at her being my "sampler" for salve. Like, how would I know if it helps? 🫤😂

I've always considered herbal/natural treatments a good thing. After all, Asians & Appalachians have used them for yrs, as did Indians. I've just delved into it a little more since I have so many assets growing right here. So I'm researching some things and have obtained some clear, measurable recipes.

Those dehydrated elderberries can be used to make a decent amount of juice. Great for antiviral. Kicks a flu down to size and builds immune system. I have those in abundance. Thanks birdies! Also a lot of the beauty berry -- will make into bug spray, from leaves. Many mushrooms have tested effects by doctors.

Yeah, another rabbit hole to dig. 🤣

Well...all I sent her were dried leaves & seed!! If that's all it takes, I'm in! she wanted plantain, which I have plenty of, mother nature free. So dried leaves she can use for salves and seed spires so she can plant :idunnoand mullein -- it's everywhere here. I grow comfrey -- not wild. Elderberry is abundant.

Yep, I'm expanding my research & hoping results are helpful. Many of today's meds originate from old herbal use. My interest is not new, just intensified.

Something that brought todays meds to forefront are the ones produce in other countries with bad chemicals added. Sold in USA. You know, I'm my own doctor/advocate for this vaccine & meds crap.

Postmaster: what's inside? Me: dried leaves. 🤣👍

Looks like twice a year I might have to get @Mini Horses to replenish my medicine chest with things... NOW... I NEED a surefire WEIGHT LOSS aid... after months working with a nutritionist and getting my D3 levels up and other things... a year later and still have not lost weight... they said they never saw anyone that they could not "kick start" the metabolism....
Well, I have always been a "walking Murphy's Law" person... if it can go wrong it will, if it is a little bit off it will happen to me... that sort of thing. Getting my blood levels up to what they consider normal and all that has not produced any "seen benefits" although I am sure there have been many small unseen pluses... but the weight around the middle I NEVER had in the past....

When I am out, I will eat more than when at home... it is nice to eat someone else's cooking... but at home I am more careful of what and quantities... and after being on a 1000 calorie based "intake"... and mostly good homegrown meat protein and veggs... there still is no noticeable signs of weight loss. Scale says 1 lb if that in the last year.... REALLY?????
Found some ankle weights in a box of things from my parents house... going to try them for a little extra resistance although I have to be careful now of making a definite effort to make sure I pick up my feet when I walk as there is no instinctive response to the walking, especially on uneven ground, like with my "own knees"... chiropractor told me it is an "actual thing" and told me the name of it... I have to write it down next time cuz I forgot it.. and I have started back with the pedal cycle thing in the house just for the exercise and calorie burning... AND strengthening the leg muscles more..
Had a woman where we had those heifers we went and got, tell me that if all else fails that I need to try the Ozempic non-diabetic formula... have to go through the dr... jim has dropped 40+ lbs of belly fat since they had put him on the Trulicity for his diabetes.... makes you consider options... I know I would feel better and honestly, I would be more mobile if I could get some of this off... but I am tired of spending all this time and money and have gotten no where with the nutritional end of it as far as the weight. My "gene's" from my father's side are all heavy built from way back...and I am way more physically active than my grandmother and great grandmother were....

Like I did with the joints before considering replacements... I tried all the different alternative things... out of my own pocket... so I have been trying this stuff here the last 1-2 years... since after the knee replacements as I knew losing weight would be good for the joint replacements and the mobility... and the year of PT... and getting no where with weight loss.... I will never be slender and am not one of those wiry build types... but just to get it down to where I can feel more energy and be more mobile... and be more comfortable bodywise.

Then I think of @peteyfoozer and am very thankful I do not have issues with RA and stuff... the years of pain in the ankle and knees was more than I could deal with some days... cannot imagine what you go through...

@farmerjan , I just wanna give you a hug! Extra weight is a burden. I understand how difficult it can be to lose. I had prednisone pack some extra in my trunk. I found KETO to help me, plus it was an anti-inflammatory diet. But for some, it’s just darn hard. I wound up having gastric surgery, which took 80 lb off. It’s still off 2-3 yr later. The greatest result was my inflammatory markers. They are supposed to be less than 10. Mine was always 18-21. After surgery it plummeted to 5. Something to do with the vagus nerve.
I also found turmeric to help inflammation a LOT. Gotta take it with pepper though!

Did the turmeric with the added pepper... did nothing for the knees before I did the replacements. Supposed to help with weight also... zip, nada, NOTHING.
Have done a keto type diet with the nutritionist .... I am not a big bread eater, and until just recently with trying out these potatoes, did next to nothing with the "whites" , white bread, white rice, white potatoes....
I like vegs, and went through a veg only phase...
Gastric surgery is not an option for me... I will not do that... too much chance for possible infections in the joints so will not do any surgeries unless life or death at this point...
Something will kick in the metabolism... just got to find it...
Done the Keto/gummies, ACV, Acia berry extracts.... also went on a thyroid supplement because it has always been low... with iodine as per my blood work results... :th :th :he:he:duc:duc:idunno:idunno.

Genetically, people have different bodies & hormones. Not ALL overweight is from just eating selections or amounts. Hard part is to discover why your body behaves differently -- or if you just eat too much of all or some things. 🤷

Reportedly the Ozempic meds do create weigh loss but, may regain when you stop taking. Don't know. Plus age plays a part in the big plan. Our bodies change with ability to generate -- like wrinkles & saggy skin.

I'm all for the natural herbs and healing things, including true essential oils (not cut with junk). Makes such a difference. I've had people tell me 'it's all in my head' but yeah -- use it on an animal and it works, so that's my comeback to non-believers. Seems like many docs and big pharma want to turn all of us into chemical factories loading us up with pill after pill. And some need that, but it seems like it's rx this and rx that. I really wonder about interactions between all of them, esp since no two of us are 100% alike. Sigh.

Countries around the world are doing more research into herbal medicines. They are teaching the people how to grow, harvest and make their own herbal medicines. The American way is to scoff at such, isolate the active ingredient and synthesize it. Then comes side effects, whereby the actual herb has none.
