Ok the next one...........

I want an ugly picture. NO POOP, NO People and nothing dead. Just make sure that it is something you can return to, you'll need that same "thing" for the next shot.

*please do not submit pictures you have already taken. The goal here is to learn to develop the photographical eye, by looking for new things around you. So, Posting pictures from last year, just wont help you or the others participating in this thread.

**Please feel free to start a new thread for discussions........

OK, so an UGLY pic.

(I will try o do the assignments too, but I'm gonna have to play catch up...it's been so busy around here)

B has already made his decision on what the subject will be. We'll work on it tomorrow since it's outside and it's really gloomy right now.

Can't wait to see what he comes up with. This is a great art lesson!

No time limit. It's like a numbered photography course that you can use to grow your eye...make sure you start at challenge one and work forward! B and I are excited to see what everyone uses for this one. I'm gonna have to put a disclaimer on B's choice for this one though  (nothing bad but I'll need to clarify something)

Good Job Hank.........that is an ugly picture! lol

Hank and those of you following along...........talk about what you see in this picture. Do you see anything pretty? or interesting? what jumps out at you the most?

Do you think that there is a "picture within the picture"?

My view.......

I see some lovely contrast between the light colored trees and the spring green behind them. Cropping all but that corner could leave you with a nice pic.

I see a piece of chicken wire hanging on a pole......at the right angle, this could make an interesting abstract shot.

I see a cutout window in the back of the shed......perhaps an opportunity to shoot thru the window getting a "framed" shot.

What other pictures do you see in this shot? Look hard and be creative......there are no wrong answers.

I see basically a mound of junk. It's what used to be a barn filled with odds and ends, then it half fell/ got torn down, with all the stuff still inside it. If you look at the whole picture it's a jumbled mess, the only things I can really make out at a glance are two tables. If you look closer though, you can start noticing smaller details like the trees and window that redtailgal mentioned. This was really the only angle I could get today as I had no shoes on and the ground around this is full of nails and glass, but I think if I got a shot at another angle (with my boots on  ) there would be more opportunities for it

I used an older camera and went out real quick to do this assignment. It's a fun and good habit to just grab your camera and.......oh wait.......thats another assignment.......

Anyway, this was done quickly.........

One of our sheds.....

Searching for details and interest led me to try this, but I wasnt happy with it.

Thinking very small got me to look hard, this isn't great, but it is something I will return to for a well lit macro style shot.

Of course, then I thought "how could I step out of the box here and be strange? WHY, I'll just go inside!" I like this. This is a shot that I will definately keep an eye on, perhaps I'll catch the moon or a sunrise, or even a butterfly in the hole........the possibilities are endless, but once I get it properly framed there is a picture here. I'll have to be patient and wait for it, though.

What do YOU think? B......I'd esp like to get your input on these pictures.
