im with you on that.but really alopt depends on how much grain an hay she gives them along with the tubb.because they say the tubb will increase the amont of hay they eat.

They will be getting all the grass hay they can eat.
We haven't decided on the grain, alfalfa, or tub thing yet.
I'm not really set up to feed them grain, alfalfa prices are through the roof, so we were considering the tubs?
Thoughts?

Interesting,
I was always told, extra protein was extra protein. In the past we've fed grain or alfalfa or protien blocks.

but you want cheap protine.if you feed 3lbs of 14% grain thats .42lbs of protine 3lbs of lick tubb is .87 lb protine.thats 1.3lb of protine a day.the cows have barely touched the tubbs.

I wouldn't buy the alfalfa hay for beef cattle either. Diary cattle, yes but, not for beef. They will do fine with a grass hay, timothy, etc.

All right, I have admitted my ignorance before!
What kind of math formula did you use to figure that out?

its easy if you have say a 10% feed.then for every lb you feed they get.10lb of protine.so if you feed 6lbs a day thats .60lb of protine.a 16% feed would be .96lb protine.
