Hi, new here! I have a pygmy that I believe is pregnant, would love opinions, will include pictures in the post. If she is pregnant, this will be my first experience, we have only had goats in general for about 5 months. She is experienced, I bought one of her kids when I got her. The owner kept males and females together so she was probably bred when I got her and we just didn't know. She is such a sweet girl, so I want to do right by here. I believe I have everything we could possibly need. My question, aside from confirming my is she preggo question, is how much do I need to be around when the process starts? I have two children, 5 and 2, and I don't want them stressing her out, but I I want to be there for her too. Should I just stand back and watch quietly, or leave and check back periodically while she goes through the process? I know I might sound silly, just a worried momma I guess, lol! Thanks in advance!

:welcome

I'm surprised no one has answered. I am fairly new to goats myself, this is my first breeding season.

In my amateur opinion, she looks pregnant. I've noticed that my pregnant does' vaginas have kind of stretched out into a line like your little girl's.

Beyond that, I don't have any advice. I just plan to keep checking in on mine and be ready to assist if they need it.

I will start out by saying that she does not look pregnant to me, but that's my opinion going from the pictures you posted. Obviously, she could be and not showing at this point in time.
You don't mention how far along you think she might be in the pregnancy. If you want a true verification of the pregnancy, you might want to consider doing a blood test which will put your mind at rest.
A lab for you to consider is http://www.biotracking.com/

If she is pregnant, you will be able to provide her with the prenatal care that she requires, which is minimal for the most part.

As far as being there for her when she kids, that is an ideal and admirable plan, but keep in mind that goats have been around for thousands of years, and except for a small number of cases, they deliver their kids without incident as nature intended.

Best of luck to you.

How far along would she be?

When ours kid we like to watch if we can.... we just sit back to the side as to not be invasive. :)
Some of us were in the stall and some of the children were up sitting on hay bales looking down into the stall.
Like goatherd said... goats have been having kids for thousands of years...all by themselves. It is nice to be there though and if a doe gets in "trouble" then you can help.
