We will keep our eyes open for Riker companions. My gut says he needs an adult, so I'll look for herd sellout situations, but also be mindful of litters when they come up. Riker was easy to train. Badger a long time ago was a neurological/genetic fail and there was no way we could have succeeded with him. Puppies scare the Dickens out of me. Last night I left the flood lights on to the front of the pasture and one of my sweet does sat out with him last night all night and he was very quiet.
Today and yesterday evening I put my dhir tester certification to work and verification tested someone's Nigerian herd just outside of Laytonsville. They are with Dairy One and I am with ISDA but they got approval to use me because they were desperate. Now to mail the package. (And I need to do this month's test for me)
My verification test this year is done, just before we moved in that heavy rain week + tornadoes we had a few months ago but I may want to check who I am allowed to use and start finding someone now. It may be a task.
Hey all,
One of my quarantine does has a clouded eye, I noticed last night. The flies right now are intense and she's not the first one we've had this season. The others fully recovered in a few days, but now she's acting like she can't see on that side. I've got terramycin gel on the way to arrive tomorrow, but does anyone know if anything in Tomorrow will help? That's the only other antibiotic thing I've got on hand. I'd like to start SOMETHING.
Clearly it's time to get the quarantiners OUT.
(I'm looking forward to new fencing rotating pastures, which should stunt fly populations since poo and mulch hay at shelters won't get a chance to build, new fence October)
Today and Tomorrow both will work. Tomorrow is supposed to be longer lasting when put in the udder... I prefer Tomorrow in the eye...
Oxytet will burn and can damage the delicate tissues...
