Update on the goat......?
The terramycin eye ointment came today, about 2 hours ago. My three year old is not letting me escape to go treat her and the spouse is sick at home and can't watch him so she and I get to wait to tango until the little monkey is distracted. I'd like to get her 3 times a day, then 2 if I can get things improving.

Today is one of those lovely days when the child orbits around me as I try to do things and he attempts to destroy everything and himself. I can't even get a 20 minute TV break out of him. But the meds will get done. The bottle says I can treat her 2-4 times a day. Even if it winds up being 2 it should work.

So far today cidrs have been pulled and pg600 has been given to those getting bred. Will spare everyone all the mess making and self endangering things child did this morning. Child needs his own pen.

Counting down to kindergarten……..😃
Oh yes. It's going to be a while...but if we could find a preschool we'd consider it too. Basically he's bored and needs to be around kids his age.

He's making progress though. Today we told him the writing he did on the wall made us sad (during one of the times I wasn't watching him like a hawk because I was in the bathroom washing after chores) so at some point when I assumed he was finally giving me some space he made off with his water cup, soaked his toy (and the floor and a chair) and tried to scrub all the marker off the wall. Three year olds aren't models of impulse control, but displays of empathy make me happy and if he's like his brothers it means he's trying to develop into a conscious, responsible little man.

When my son was 2, I worked, ex worked and after supper, I cleaned up and mopped kitchen floor. One night after I finally got to sit down, in my state of stupor, I became aware that my son was mopping the floor with his toy mop. How adorable. I smiled.

Then he went in the bathroom and dunked mop in the toilet……

Yes, that sounds about right.
Every day I get reminded that those little people have a loooong way to go before they figure out the why of how we do what we do-even the older ones to some extent. It makes indoor, non-farm life into a great big trouble shooting session for me so I can beat them to the punch and keep everything together and as they become aware that there is a how that they're supposed to follow and they need to find it makes things incredibly awkward for them as they sort of sound things out and blunder through. Feels like living in a pit of little cavemen. And now they're becoming anxious, awkward little cavemen.

Then I get to take breaks outside and my goats are adults, understand the assignment, AND have a survival drive as icing on the cake. And they're usually happy with what I serve them, gosh darn it.

Summer's thoughts
1000003979.jpg

Oberon got a single doe, Bri. Her eye is getting better with each treatment.

And Beaul gets Oberon's ND daughter and a whole host of mini saanendoahs (one of which is trying to pee on her face with equipment she doesn't have). They're all following him around and competing for his attention and he's "working" very hard today and tonight.

Today is a buck fantasy. Tomorrow they'll all be spent and the does will be sick of them. And then I'll put everyone away and clean the barn and take the bucks their own round bale.
