One of the first things we did was sell the electric oven that came with the house. We bought this Samsung oven w 5 burners. It comes with nozzles to run on propane in package. Our tall RV propane tank runs it for 6-8 months.

I want a gas stove like my grandmother's. It had a heater on the side. There was an ice storm in 1973 which resulted in power outages for a week. She just moved a day bed into the kitchen and shut the doors, stayed warm.

I have a gas stove. Gotta have it living in the country because of power outages. Also a propane heater, it’s on right now. The propane heater sure cuts down the electric bill in the winter.
We rarely have power outages, longest was about 8 hours during Hurricane Irene (2013?). Heat is propane, rest of house is electric. I ordered a new washer and dryer because I don't want to deal with repairs and the money is there, for now. I consider it an investment before I retire. I'd like to invest in a propane stove, too, but the bureaucratic fences I will have to vault give me pause. I hate electric cooking.

I wonder what a propane wall heater would run me?

@fuzzi ; If you already have propane heat, what bureaucratic fences would you have to contend with?
Propane wall heaters are in the $150-250 range... or a small one that is free standing on the floor... even TSC carries them. Just need the connecting line to it. Who ever services your propane heat should be able to install both, or send you to someone that does.
In Va any newly installed propane gas stove for cooking has to have a pilot ignition... which means electric... so useless in an outage... BUT.... Pa does not require due to the number of old order Amish... so a neighbor went and bought his new propane stove in PA, brought it home on his truck... and had it put in. If I have to replace mine, that is what I am going to do... I can light my burners by hand, but cannot light the oven.... My real old one was all lit by a match... Hated when it died....

I’m pretty sure if you already have propane laid on to furnace additional piping will be just a licensed plumber. He will pull the city permit if required. Maybe get an estimate?

😂 I think we are going to fix our oven problem soon. I assigned DH to make bacon for the loaded potatoes to go with the goat leg roast (1 roast + 1 qt broth in crock pot for over night)and he did not use the plug in induction plate. Next thing I know I hear, "Rachel, the stoves turned all the way down to low and it's still burning my bacon!" No kidding. I yelled from across the house for him to turn it off and take it off the heat(the burners that work do not turn off right away either, they stay red for a lot longer than I know they should). Yep, that's life right now. (If the burners ever fail to turn off I know to scoot the stove forward and unplug it. We just need to avoid using the stove and oven for now. )
Now if I could just get my DH to understand that on our ovens - like ya' know accurate temps are needed to bake (things other than brownies and frozen pizza). OR convection isn't always the way to go?! WTG at opening his eyes!

Have a box of the long handled matches for lighting fireplace and you can use oven by putting it down into burner area. Regular match lit and dropped next to burner ring does the tops.

We looked into it about 8 years ago. There's already a propane tank and line to the house. To run a separate line to install a gas wall heater or stove needs a permit ($), gas company runs line ($), county inspects line ($), gas stove/heater installed ($), county comes back to inspect again ($).

The propane company told me that all new stoves have electronic ignitions, no pilot light. So, in a power outage stove won't work. I believe the wall heaters have the push button ignition, like a catalytic heater.

But I am still thinking about it.
