Dot is going through the motions. We're doing hourly checks today. I'm anxious to wrap this up.
Emmi appears to have injured her buckling with constant pawing, and he can no longer bring his back legs together when he could last night and he's sitting like a frog in the bedding. Emmi has also usurped Summer as herd queen. I guess I'll put her back on the pull kids list. Funny, I was expecting her to be a little worse for the wear after last night but if anything she's spicier than ever. Darn kidding hormones. If her buckling passes I guess that's one less buckling to worry about, but it would have been nice...oh well. We just might be having a doe year this year.

Three does for Dot. One butt, hocks, and tail first (that was fun), one toes first backwards, and as far as I know one normal presentation because it came while I was carrying the previous sibling to the house so the barn cats wouldn't get it.z This wave is DONE.
We've had a stellar doe year so far but I'm paying for it in malpresentations. Time to go sleep for a week (JK, time to mom children and feed baby goats).
After school son#1 is like "mom, when are the mini Saanens going to kid?". And in my head I'm like, "don't you have enough goats in your kitchen?" but I told him. The next (day 145) due date isn't until February 11th, then March 8th, then March 12th. PHEW.
I'm going to see if I can help Emmi and her buckling along. He may be too injured, or he may just be weak from not being allowed to eat enough while she's being a hormonal brat. Dot insisted on being put back with the herd and wasn't really interested in her kids, which is good. Wether Emmi's buckling lives or not, the next step is to get these goat kids all on the lamb bar and disbudded and out of my kitchen.

I have to figure out how long I need to leave Summer in the stall with her kid before Riker will leave the baby alone. That, or I'll have to move Riker to another pen.

Are you going to keep any?
Absolutely. The sire, Pete, his dam (and sire technically) someone special in the lamancha world, and so im hording all my Pete kids. Pete's dam is also not taking anymore so...
If they are nice enough my lamancha herd can be almost completely Pete kids for now. I just need to get them fresh and see some of THEIR udders so judgment calls can be made out of them. That's what Dator and Pepper are for (I'd keep some Pepper kids too if there was room).
Dator yesterday, feeling fabulous...er, i mean bored.
