Looking for trailer. Trailer Bay fund still available but owner will not call with info to view/deliver or be paid.

Put up 7 quarts of pork yesterday. Ordering the electric canner today. Then I can transfer my frozen premade meat & sauce to jars. Also frozen goat milk kept for possibility of any bummer lambs. Hopefully, this will free up freezer space so we can transport one freezer (and jars) to Texas. I wish there was a root cellar or basement under Texas house to store jarred food. When I run out of storage shelves in house, will have to store jars under the beds. Maybe we can dig a large hole in the yard, line it with concrete blocks, and use it as a combination root cellar and storm shelter. I doubt we will do it though.

DH went to pick up our old Explorer from DD2 and Doofus. They have had it for several months but haven't been using it for several weeks. The reason is always sort of hazy. I told DH I wanted it back asap since it is still insured by us and if they have any accidents we will be charged the accident. Also, they only have one parking space and leaving it parked on the street is asking for trouble or tickets. DH kept asking them to bring it back and they have been promising for several weeks to return but never do. Finally I texted DD2 and said we wanted to pick it up. She gave us a time and day to get the key - there is only one. He came back without the car. He is spitting tacks! :somad

First, she said it was parked in their garage space. When he arrived, it was parked on the street and had been for weeks. The driver's side handle has been broken off again - DS1 has replaced it twice. The last time he replaced it was just before they took the car to use it. With the broken driver's door handle you have to crawl across the car to get in. DS1 can fix that (so could Doofus but he chose not to fix anything in spite of having the use of it almost constantly over the last year.) The main problem is that the key is broken and the chip necessary to unlock the steering column is missing. The plastic part of the key is totally smashed. She didn't mention the key being broken and unusable. :somad Car couldn't be started or driven without the chip. DH went to Galpin to see if he could get another chip but they don't keep those chips for more than 10 years. Might have to buy a new ignition for the car. May have to pay to have it towed too.

This is after they borrowed it and returned it for some problem which DH paid to have repaired. for When they found out it was repaired they borrowed it again! No more emergency babysitting for them. No more car borrowing for them. No more driving any of our vehicles even with us in them. Very angry and will be out of pocket over this. Tough Love is in effect. DH is still mad! :rant And probably will be for some time.

Did something to my back muscles yesterday. Pain radiating from under shoulder blade to spine along upper ribs. It is ok as long as I don't breathe too deeply or move certain ways, otherwise it is excruciating. Coughing or breathing deeply reminds me of when I broke a rib so must be the muscle attached to the ribs, lower shoulder blade and spine. Probably worse for sleeping and it has stiffened up. I wil try to loosen it up by doing some stretches later.

Got to label the pork, already washed the jars so just need to pack them away to go to Texas. Oh yes, and order the electric canner!

GRRRR on DD2 and Doofus about the vehicle. Texas won't be soon enough for that situation. Tow the Explorer, switch out the ignition => oh what a PITA. But once done it's all yours again and Texas happy. And oh yeah about the chip thingie. DH's car key fob stopped working a couple weeks ago, he had to use mine to use his car. No big deal, but my thought (out loud) is -- what if we were somewhere out in the boonies and the fob stopped working, then what?! Yesterday he took it to the dealer - who had to keep the car to diagnose it. WTH??? It's the fob, not the car, just give him a new fob and match it to the car. SERIOUSLY -- if it doesn't work with his fob and does work with mine then it's got to be the fob. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
Oh and......
order the canner now (if you haven't already) you more than deserve it and will put it to work. :)

Already had a problem when they borrowed our good car when we were in Texas and brought it back with an empty gas tank. Now we know why Doofus kept taking DD2's car to work. This is the last straw. The Ford place was able t get a new ignition. $800.00! This is an old Explorer and not worth much but DH already put $2500 into it so it was drivable (for DD2 to borrow). Now another $800! And while they had the car they complained that the AC didn't work so they didn't like to drive it. Can anyone say spoiled? They were only supposed to use the car for a couple weeks while Doofus got another catalytic converter installed on his car. That was almost a year ago and still no catalytic converter. In the meantime, he paid $800 for a German Shepherd - in their 3rd story 2 BR apartment.
Anyway, everyone has problems with certain relatives.

My shoulder/back/rib muscles are better this am although still painful and not 100%. I guess I will have to take it easy today. DS1 and DGD1 got the lambs into the barn and they are penned ready for vacs. Maybe tonight.

DS1 ordered the canner for me yesterday. Once it arrives and I read the instructions, I will start thawing stuff and canning. I have a lot of spaghetti meat sauce, and pork verde in Ziploc bag in the freezer so I will get all that in jars. Only problem now is where to store the quart jars in Texas. I wonder how those Mormon families do it - their religion requires them to store a year's supply of food. DH told me that when he worked for Bekins they hated moving a Mormon family because of aa the canned goods. LOL I guess I can put risers on the bed legs and store the jars in boxes under the bed. If the laundry room was larger I could build shelves in there for the jars. At least I can store the empty jars in the shed. Maybe I can use one of the bedroom closets. I can't use my antique oak ice box - that is full of wine and liquor. lol Maybe I will take the large oak wardrobe back after all and use it. I can either use t for guest clothing and the closet for food or put shelves in it and use it for the food jars. Right now it has all my cruise clothes and formal wear. Time to figure it out.

DGS5 woke up with a fever. He, DGS6, and DDIL2 just got over some sort of flu bug and DGD1 had stomach flu that kept her home for 3 days. I guess we are heading into flu and cold season. 🤒🤧🤮

I have a crap load of cruise & dress up. I've decided to donate them ALL! Whole lot of sparkles there.🤣

Wow on the ignition costs 😱 wow on lack of responsibility of DD2 & DSIL now ya know why they couldn't return it! Bad for no confessing. Yeah, I'd do a tougher love on that pair!!

Well...the milk. Are you canning it? I've tried and never works out. Not a tasty result 😜. I'd even go for something resulting in canned evaporated milk -- for cooking. So, your secret is? 🤔. Yep, I always keep frozen colostrum and some milk...in case. This year I gave my vet a gal of colostrum one week, fresh from kiddings of 3 does. He loves me 😁

Do one of the closets in shelves. Since I have an added on utility room, I took the washer dryer space original to this double wide and made it all shelves for my canning stuff and big pots.

I put shelf towers in all 3 of the bedrooms, it gave me a lot more space. Maybe you could reconfigure a closet?

Since I cook with gas, I constantly have to check and adjust the flame. I am hoping in Yantis with an electric stove I will be able to adjust the burner and it will maintain the same temperature for the 90 minutes.

Yes, I will find some extra space somewhere in the new house to put in shelves for jars. Luckily I have a shed across the yard where I can store boxes of empty jars, along with my pressure canners and water bath canners. I will just wrap everything in plastic. Storing the clean empty jars in the shed won't hurt since I run them through the dishwasher before using.

Speaking of canning the electric canner arrived yesterday - 4 days ahead of scheduled delivery! I have been reading the instructions and it doesn't look like you can adjust the pressure, only set the time. I will have to look it over more carefully after unpacking. It is possible that it is factory pressure set at 10 lbs. I will get it out today and check it, rinse it out, and do a trial run with water in jars. I don't want to defrost the frozen meat sauce until ready to can.

OH NO! Just read that I might not be able to use my regular Presto pressure canners on the glass top electric stove in Yantis. Does anyone have any experience with pressure canning on a glass top stove? Will the glass top really break? Let me know any experiences and anything you have heard about canning on glass top stoves, please!
