Hunting peope use something they paint onto the dog's pads to toughen them up and provide a sort of second skin. Found it on line - it is Tuf-Foot from Gun Dog Supply, $14.99 a bottle. You paint it on the pads and it toughens the skin as well as being somewhat antibiotic. I don't know if this is the same thing we used, but it should help.

That’s right! I’ll have to give it a shot. It’s the black liquid stuff that smells like licorice if I remember correctly. Been over 40 yrs since I last used it. Thanks for the reminder 😊

Ditto to @murphysranch comment. It made the news here of the extreme winds and a fire that is 0 contained due to extremely high winds and impossible to fight the fire under the conditions...
Praying for the safety of all that are being affected... my heart goes out to everyone. I saw what the fires did this summer to rangeland and houses up in Oregon where members on CT showed pictures of the devastation they endured.

We’re fine. So far all the fires are far away from us. The winds are really crazy. Then they stop and start up again.
Lots of outdoor stuff “rearranged “. Cameras show the shade cloth of the east side of the barn flapping. Still dark out so no idea how everything else is.
I’m on day 2 on the couch - DH brought that sneezing coughing bug back 🤬.
Sage: I've been watching KTLA and others on the Palisades Fire. I know you mentioned the winds, and I know that its a very long ways from you. Lets pray that there is no spark down where you liv

Fire in San Fernando Valley are surrounding my family in California. Naturally as soon as DH goes back for doctor appointments! however, they are native born SoCal kids and know what to do. Winds are ranging from 50mph to 80mph. DD1 says they have lost the solar panels on the roof for the pool. Family is packed to evacuate but DD1 and grandkids went to school and work today. DSIL1 is working from home ready to grab "go bags" and dog and evacuate. One fire in Sylmar west of them. Another fire to the northwest has moved down t the In-N-Out Burger on Lowell, just north of the high school. Without the sheep there since May, I hope the ground is clear of brush at the house to keep it safe. DS2 just painted the bedroom, he will be peeved if the house burns down! LOL.
