I attempted to give Mocha a bath tonight. Shampoo was applied and curry combed in then sluiced off. Udder and creases with back legs towel scrubbed. Toweled dried her and let her go grazes for a couple of hours before dinner.

I only got kicked once and stepped on. Nerd that I am, I watched youtubes about washing sheep. I failed at first step- magically calm sheep that stands on platform. Mocha is too long for mine!

So I have that same stand and you can buy a replacement head piece on eBay I think. That’s will keep her restrained better then a halter. Calming my lamb had a lot to do with the security that came with his head being stuck. She looks good though! When you blow dry I always blow the legs up so the hair sticks out straight on the legs. Makes her legs look thick and appealing. She looks nice and clean afterwards. Y’all did great.

This one should work. You can find cheeper ones on eBay but this is a new one from that brand. https://www.sullivansupply.com/product/standard-steel-head-piece-extension/

My children always had to wash their sheep several times. The first time they washed with dish soap to cut the lanolin so the shearer could do a show shear (to the skin). That was a week before the fair. Then the day before we were to take them to the fairgrounds they would wash them again, tie the to the corral bars to dry and continue with getting their other animals ready. Soon there would be screams of horror when the lambs untied themselves and rolled in dirt. More washing. And the memorable time when DS1 decided that he did not need to add the laundry bluing to a gallon of water for the final rinse. This is supposed to help the sheep be blindingly white and attract the judge's eye. Instead DS1 poured the bluing on the sheep directly. It took 4 more washings to get the bright blue color off his market lamb.
Ridgetop is probably directly responsible for the water shortage in California.

2023 Season
So we didn't get any shows done in the spring. Cassandra's extra tutoring for dyslexia took up ALL her time and was much more important. So we are starting fresh for this school year.

Her first show is the 22nd with a costume contest. Then there is a show on the 28th also with costume contest. So I should probably start sewing, huh. :plbb:lol: She will be going as Shera with her Pegasus WindSong.

Lining is ready for check in the morning. The front is designed for emblem to be on right front panel which velcros over left front. Cassandra will have a long sleeve tee underneath so she doesn't freeze. Maybe 3hrs so far? Duck tape pattern -> scrap bedsheet sloper -> final product lining.
