Today was another routine day with a whole bunch of grass cutting and my forever hunt for Perilla Mint but it ends as always, with a smile.
We have an adventure tomorrow since one of the sun visors on the Ram pickup broke and we have to take it in for warranty service. They tried to tell us that the warranty had expired but Teresa had the paperwork and the extended warranty that we bought covered it for another three years so I guess that little fix will sort of justify the $1500 cost of the extended warranty. We have had the Ram for three years now and I think it has a little over 12,000 miles. The Tacoma that we still have and that I drove every day before I retired has over 270,000 miles but is still our main work truck.
Since we so rarely get into town that early in the day we are going to do a rare thing (for us) and go to a restaurant and have breakfast.
We got our paper for the sale the other day and found the prices to be as good as the earlier sale that we used. There were 22 sheep with one lamb graded as good and the rest were an even split as prime and choice. Prices ranged from 1.50 for the good and up to 2.40 for the others. I was pleased to see that they were sold separately which at this market, most of the ewes were going as breeders and both of the oldest ram lambs were sold as rams and not slaughter.
Edit to add those prices are per pound. I keep forgetting that not everyone has sales like ours.
So the ewes were sold by the head for breeding? If you don't mind my asking, what was the weight ranges on the lambs overall?
I think that was pretty good considering the weather, heat especially, and not being what you would consider prime lamb selling season. That is really good for you, I am glad they did well.....
I glanced out of the window and thought graceson was dead but he was just resting. He lays out in the middle of the yard and you can tell he is in his comfort zone.
I'm getting ready to call it a day but decided to have a light snack before going to bed. Our Cherokee Purple tomatoes are in that perfect stage and although I love all heirloom tomatoes, this is the only one that makes me put my head back and say "Oh My" after the first bite.
