We are pretty persistent in having drought status every year for several months. The lady at the USDA had pulled up a current satellite image of our place and said that you obviously got through the drought. We still have several acres that hasn't been grazed at all.

Our day didn't quite go the way we had planned. I felt like I had some kind of bug yesterday and I had a low grade fever that switched to shivering so much that I could not hold a plate with food on it. During the night in bed I would wake up sweating and when I would try to settle back to sleepy land, I would go through another several minutes shivering. I'm not big on running to the doctor but my sinuses were way out of wack along with my face features were literally distorted they were so full of infection. Teresa knows how I am with doctors but when she said "you want to think about going in?", I agreed and off we went to the ER in Columbia which is about 40 miles away. We have a hospital a lot closer but they aren't the most impressive facility around.

They ran several meds through an IV but they kept me there for several hours since the doc was concerned about my airway getting blocked but the swelling had gone down enough that they let me go around 1:00.

There is no way to be absolutely positive but he said that med I take for blood pressure has the reputation for everything I had going and that was enough for me. I got to looking back to this past spring and when I got bitten by a deer fly, the exact same thing happened so the doc wrote me a script for another BP med.

Wow. Good thing you went in and extra good that you had a doc that realized what could be the cause - yay on the new bp Rx. 🤞 it does the trick.

We are obviously getting what everyone is and it is brutal. The high today was 14 and I spent more time breaking ice and adding hot water over everything else. I took our Polaris out to the road to see what king of shape it is in and there were zero tracks and since it is a REALLY rural road, it won't get any treatment.

The sheep are getting double rations since they can't graze with the snow load but they still seem content and stay in the stall at night.

I have an appointment Thursday to decide on a new BP med but the roads still might not be navigable. Either way, we have plenty of supplies and the sheep are still being cared for.

Good luck with finding the right BP med. took me two tries. Years now and all is well.

It’s getting above freezing today, so will start thawing out. Winter can go now. But Winter isn’t leaving quite yet. Winter will sneak back at night for another few days, while East Texas Winter will try to chase Winter away during the day. An Epic battle, but East Texas Winter will prevail. Soon it will be cold and raining, but no freezing. HAH! Winter! Take that! Go away and don’t come back!

But ya’ know, if you would like to come back to visit for a day or two in August, I’m sure you would be welcomed back.

Honestly, @Bruce , I never would have dreamed that it got that cold in TN or TX, either... I just think they are "south" of here... yet @Mike CHS in TN is more west and a little south of this area... except we have a little more elevation with the Blue Ridge Mtns... but still, they have their share of rock and steep ground... Now @Baymule in TX, I would have NEVER EVER thought they got as cold as they did with the major snow/frigid cold they had..... and even now.
I was reading something on CT that referenced that the "arctic vortex" is "wobbling more" and that is why there are more "dips " in the jetstream and why the wavy lines of the jet stream are occurring and sending these waves of frigid temps further south.. yet they have been doing things like smudge pots and now propane heaters in the citrus groves since as long as I can remember... but maybe not as often, or maybe we were not as aware of it since now news is 24/7 from everywhere.
