I haven't posted many lamb pictures this year so here are a few from this latest batch:

We brought the sheep in this morning and then headed to Costco in Franklin. On the way home we stopped and had lunch at a Cracker Barrel.

This has been a really erratic breeding season this year and nobody really knows if it was the unseasonal heat or the fairly lengthy drought. We talked to a friend south of Nashville this morning who is one of the larger sheep producers around and he said he wound up with over 100 ewes that did not get bred and he has talked to several other farms that had the same problem, only not as large as his.

We have 4 ewes that we are pretty sure did not get bred but two of those was intentional.

Teresa harvested the last of her Kale this afternoon. That bed did amazingly well considering we had several days with a wind chill of -10. I am attaching a couple of pictures of how she covers the beds.

Our ewe Kate had a long labor this afternoon. She spent almost two hours trying to figure out what was happening. Kate is the grand daughter of Pepper and is an awesome ewe. Kate was in the paddock in plain view of our living room and we watched and watched and Teresa was really fretting. I am always concerned but I won't interfere unless it is more obvious since we have had dozens of Lambings that take a long time. Kate finally had a huge lamb and we relaxed and quit worrying for a bit. That would have been the only single lamb born this season but I looked out about a half hour later and she was cleaning up another lamb so we have not had a single lamb this time.
