Pixie was delivering another set of triplets when I went down to feed this morning. Since she had her lambs in the stall where the feed troughs are, the rest will have to wait awhile as we give her time to finish cleaning up her lambs.

Pixie is the daughter of Princess who was born on the day when @Baymule and BJ were here, and she became a bottle lamb.

We had a bit of a problem with Pixie's udder. One side is larger than the other and as a result, all three of her lambs were nursing on the same (smaller) side. I held her in place while Teresa milked out the enlarged side. You could tell that side had not been nursed on since it was still holding colostrum. We kept her in place and guided her lambs to the problem side and before we left her, the lambs were nursing on both sides so we will watch to make sure they keep on doing it.

I really, really love having tame sheep. Pixie is close to 180 lbs when she isn't pregnant so if she was determined that I wasn't going to hold her, I wasn't going to hold her. We could have put her in the chute but it's easier on everyone when it goes calmly.

That calming influence goes both ways. You have to be calm and easy, or the sheep go bonkers. So you are calm, they take their cue from you and they are calm and easy. Their calmness comes back to you and it’s a peaceful environment.

I love to go sit down with my sheep. I use a lawn chair or they would step all over me trying to get close. Plus me trying to get off the ground with a lap full of sheep is nigh on to impossible.
