Beats some of the alternatives... sitting in a chair in a nursing home with a blanket over our legs talking about the good old days, or pushing up daisies.....Better to do than to not do... even if it takes a little longer or some creativity to achieve the desired result... Plus we have a great group here to listen to us "vent"......and laugh at the "goofs", and make suggestions...AND celebrate the positives....

While working on the new hoop coop door I decided to sit on a cement ("cinder") block. It was lower than I realized, and after coming down with a thump I laughed, and said out loud "There's no way you're getting up without rolling off!" And that's what I did. :plbb

It was about as beautiful outside today as it can get and we enjoyed it. The neighbor called early this morning and said that one of your white dogs is out and it turned out that it was Maisy. It's no big deal since she won't go anywhere but if she can get out, other critters can get in, so we went looking for the opening.

We found a likely spot by a drain pipe that goes under our driveway plus it had a lot of erosion on the pasture side. We had a bunch of rebar that we drove in to close up the opening and we will add wire to it tomorrow.

We are going to put the rams in another paddock sometime this week so we can bring the rest of the sheep in to figure out who goes and who stays. We have a couple of young ewes that just don't have the stature that we like so they are going. One yearling ewe who looks perfectly but is a pain in the rear to work so she is going. We have right around 8 ewe lambs that we really need to look at and most will be staying.

Today was a day to take all of the dogs in to get their shots. We can't do them all at once because of personalities. Maisy and Mel generally get along with the herding dogs but it isn't a given so we don't mix them. Sassy is pretty easy going but even she will strike out when stressed. Lance who seems so lovingly gently can turn vicious around other dogs so we don't mix them. It only took two trips with one dog in the bed of the pickup and one inside to get it done so it wasn't all that bad. :)

Dog dynamics. Last time I took Sheba and Buford together, Carson by himself. 2 big unhappy stressed out, wanna go home, Anatolians were a bit much to handle by myself. I’ll be taking them one at a time from now on. It’s 30 miles to the vet.

Today was my turn to go seek help from the Doc. I have had neck pain in a couple of spots for the last couple of years but it has been tolerable until recently. It got worse about a month ago but still tolerable but then started to spike more and more. I told Teresa last week that if it got much worse, we need to go in to see what can be done and it did get worse.

They checked me out and gave me a shot of something to take down the inflammation and sent me to the hospital to have Xrays taken. The shot was a miracle med as I sit here now with zero pain so that is a good thing. It really is a bummer that your body starts to fall apart just as you are having fun. :)
