So not a problem falling into the well? Better take your ropes and chitons to the well site when digging. Some of those pix made me nervous that you would fall in that hole!

I'd suggest the bison as a future project 
I understand you're wonderful, fearless and confident - a force to be reckoned with...but bison are also. Plus they're bigger with less brain power, ruled solely by testosterone.
Finish some other projects first. Maybe bison next year.

I think there is a way to filter water through sand and charcoal to make it safe to drink. What did the water test shw?

Just boil it. It will be fine. That odd color is probably all the good minerals . . . .
If you can take the water out of your toilet tank and boil it to drink in case of a natural disaster (as government emergency pamphlets have told those of us in hurricane, tornado, and earthquake areas) I think that the water you bring up on your land will be fine. If the color is disturbing, add KoolAid. LOL

Yes, you can filter water with sand & charcoal....
Direct sunshine for a time will kill pathogens. , so will heating it. You can collect moisture from air with a dug out hole, a catch container, some plastic and set up properly. Condensation. It's survival info
