Vegetables

I have been reading where rabbits(not sure about those for meat) need at least a cup of vegetables a day . Well that can get pretty expensive around here and I had been doing that but I find my rabbit does fine without them and I have been feeding him some every now and then because he gets pellets and hay , what do you think ?

Agree 100% rabbits can live happy lives on pellets and hay alone. But there are many advantages for rabbits, IMHO, when you feed them vegetables and fruit. Especially vegetables. They like their strawberries and apples, but will go for the greens over the sweets every time.

Greens really have many nutritional values. I'm a firm believer of Wheat Grass. That was the first green I introduced to my young buns. They get it every day. We do hydroponics and have it growing right next to their crates. Also broccoli, parsley, kale. Seeds don't cost a lot. Grow all year round.

You don't HAVE to do anything. Just like l thought you didn't have to put ACV in their water. But it sure has it's benefits. Health wise for my rabbits. Just like the vegetables.

If you don't put too much hay out for your lionheads, what do you do about potential hair balls when molting? I've found that lots of hay and water, with a little bit of papaya has helped.

I'll see if they like papaya, but only a few actually eat the hay when I put it in. All of them eat grass when I allow them access to a pen I built them.
