I have a little story it happened over a year ago at a auction house we sell our goats at. We were sitting there waiting for our goats to sell when they ran in 3 or 4 bunches of does and said they could kid any time. One bunch went back to the farm the packer bought the other groups I would say round about 40-50 head. I bought a couple donkeys so I had to come back the next day with a trailer to get my jennies. We loaded up the donkeys and the high school boy that works there and come over to help us left and something kept bothering me. There were 5 pens of animals that would no be shipped til Monday cause it was Sunday afternoon when we got there. The pens were crowded and I kept hearing new babies cry. I looked in the pen and seen 7 new babies in a crowded pen the ones that was annonced the day before during the sale could kid anytime. I couldn't turn a blind eye. They were going to be crushed in the pen or left to die when the does were loaded to go to the packer. So me and my husband picked up what we could and got outta there. I know it was stealing but I couldn't leave those babies to face certain death. We grabbed 4 that day and all are happy and alive. I later told 1 of the guys that own the auction house and he said I did the right thing. Sometimes you got to do what's right.

This sale barn is the only one I will go to. They. Are nice and respectful to the animal. The other one we have been to and would not go back handles the stock rough. So I won't give them my business again. But the down fall is tthere aren't many places here to get read of stock other than the sale barn we are not close to ethnic populations or that. We have used clist some but most of that is to place animals that have special needs. We just want them to have a good home.let me tell you we were sure paranoid after we grabbed them. We live in the flight area of the practice bombing range they fly over to get in line for targets. The day we did that and got homea couple fighters flew over we just knew we were had but it was just nerves.LOL

Stealing is wrong, so I know you've been wrestling with guilt feelings over this and I don't blame you. I'm glad the guy agreed with you when you told him; I'm even more glad they have a good home!

I think in this instance "kid-napping" was the right thing to do! more than likely they were going to slaughter or some hellacious place anyway.. good for you! and really who can resist a baby goat?!?!

This is the worse thing I have ever done yes I have had speeding tickets but that's it. So it was a tough decsision and I do know that stealing is wrong. But so is leaving livestock in the condition they were in and for the amount of time they were left. I believe that animals should be respected even if they are going to be food. My friends sure like to give me a ribbing about haveing the cops coming after me for it. But I know each one of them pretty well and they would do the same thing.

Sorry no pics plus I don't know how to post pictures on here. I'm not real saavvy on the post thing it is surpriseing I can type and post things. They are spanish cross one blue kinda roan that is Sapphire, a black and white Pepper and a pure black one Ebony and a neighbor took the other one she too is a blue roan Baby. They I think might be pygmy spanish cross cause they are a lot smaller than our other spanish cross does. But my husband likes the pygmy goats so they fit in his herd real good.
