It's difficult for good, sincere individuals (like Ms. Research) who are wanting to get correct answers to know who to believe and who not to believe... This is in no way meant as an attack or accusation toward anyone. Just advice for those out there that are looking for correct information about raising rabbits.

Wow, boy did I step on toes of the God of bunnies. It may not be meant to hurt, but I know exactly where it was directed,.
Whatever.

And here's the Second in Command to the God of Bunnies. I told you what I did. I'm sorry it doesn't fit YOUR criteria. And yes, I just got involved. I don't raise MEAT rabbits like you and AZ Rabbits. Anybody can raise meat rabbits for God sake. But when you go for genetic order, see ya,.
K
BTW, I let Dr Joe, My MEAT RAISING Rabbit VET know you don't think he raised his rabbits, that put him THROUGH college, right. He'll get a giggle out of that.

I've gotten valuable information from both of them ON THE INTERNET. That's why I was shocked by their past posts. I'm not trying to say "HEY I KNOW IT ALL", but at least don't smack me down for trying to help. The "only have a few rabbits as pets" comment was the key.
But you are right.
Ms. Research. I'm sorry if I offended you. That was definitely not my intention. Those who know me know that I truly enjoy helping others with information about rabbits and go out of my way to do what I can for them. You have some great recommendations and you've obviously done some research and know some great things about raising rabbits. In my post I mentioned you because you have mentioned that you do a lot of online research. I was talking TO everyone (yourself AND myself included) and not ABOUT anyone specifically. I know you have a vet friend (which I never said didn't raise rabbits... not sure where you got that idea), but you're not the only one that mentions talking to their vet about raising rabbits. I have heard many talk about their vet's advice when their vets don't know what they're talking about other then basic "pet" information. Being a vet makes one know about raising rabbits as much as a family doctor knows about exercise science and optimal nutrition. They don't unless they have experience aside from the medical field. That's not the focus of their educational training (I work in Master's level Exercise Science education so this is something I face a lot... we have doctors as students and it's surprising how little some of them know of the human body beyond medicine).
My point was that as we (myself included) look for answers on the Internet, be careful and make sure there is wisdom in the advice we take action on, coming from a source that makes sense. That's not just for raising rabbits, but on every subject out there. Most information on the net is incorrect on most any subject you choose. I was trying to be helpful but obviously was not good at putting my thoughts on paper...
Again, I'm sorry if I offended and failed to write my thoughts clearly on the thread. I have nothing but respect for you and enjoy reading your posts.

Very true. But anybody can be a parent too. That doesn't make you a good one. NOT everyone that raises meat rabbits does it optimally, nor efficiently. I came here not only to hear different points of view and learn some things, but help those getting started get some correct information (the information I know). You'll never find me posting on Lionhead, Angora and Dwarf threads because I know NOTHING about them. Therefore I stick to what I do know... meat rabbits. That is my expertise. And serious meat rabbit raisers have to know a lot because optimal health, production, size, etc. are the backbone of success. Being casual about it is fine for casual meat production, but will result in failure for the serious breeder. Every ounce, every lost kit, every lost day and every less-than-optimal health of breeding does is a huge loss for serious meat breeders (as well as many specialty breeders). But then again, that's according to me writing on the Internet. I could be totally making all this up and maybe don't know a thing about them.... long live the Internet!
