hahaha!! My sheep were stotting too with the cooler air recently, and today they were running around more all excited.

I love my sheepies!

From what I can see, they seem to be quite intelligent. They learn quick, and watch to see where I'm going and what I'm up to when I'm outside.

Their pasture is my backyard : )

I hope to see them stotting again tomorrow, ,maybe I can video it if I'm quick enough.

Mine jump into the air and kind of kick their back legs sideways. Is that stotting? They seem to do it when they are running out to the paddocks in early morning. The younger ones do it more. I've also seen my Suffolk do this airborne thing when she was being aggressive and trying to fend off another sheep. It reminds me of when dogs go crazy and run around in circles until they poop out. We called it the "zoomies." :)

We have 4 lambs, around 8 months old now, and they started doing this in June when they were about 4 months old. I see it as playing but we're new to sheep (got our in May 2012) so I could be wrong. I made a short video and had some fun with it of them running and stotting about. :)

Your sheep are absolutely adorable !!!
Really cute whilst stotting and running and jumping!

My ewe lamb stotts like a Springbok or some kind of antelope when she gets going, I was out there with the video camera but then she wouldn't do it again ...:/

Hey Dieds, your sheep are cuties! I have 2 Harlequin cross sheep. One is mixed with a Dorper I think and has brown wool and a black face. Her baby is a roan. Harlequin sheep originated in my neck of the woods. Are you in VA by any chance?

I love your black and white ones! They look like my Jacob babies only chunkier. :love

My sheep do that ALL the time! It's just they're way to play, frolicking if you will. They jump and headbutt each other and love to play with my dog. They're such happy creatures, and they love to play.
