I have a doe about six months old and she will not eat her grain! I know its not the grain thats the problem because my seven other goats LOVE it and gobble it down! I am feeding Nutrena Dairy 16. Do you have any idea on why she doesn't want her grain? She just shows no interest in it and never has shown any interest. All she wants is hay but I would like to start supplementing her diet with grain because these dry summer months provide little forage and I want to breed her in October.

You might try putting a little molasses on it, not a lot, it's pretty strong stuff. But it's also sweet, and goats love sweet stuff.

I have a goat that won't eat grain, has never liked it. She will eat some in the winter, when there's not any brouse available.

Of course she has hay, but doesn't much like it either.

Some goats are weird aren't they? If your goat has minerals and you worry about her nutrition get a Goat 20 N protein tub, my goats love it and it's got lots of vitamins, minerals and my goats do look great now.

Thanks for your response! Yeah some goats are really weird! ;)

I'll try the molasses and if that doesn't work, I'll try the protein tub. :)

Is it a Pelleted Feed or Textured Feed (Pellet w/ Corn and Oats)?
If it is a Textured Feed are they eating the Corn and Oat at all?
Some goats will not eat a Pelleted feed for one reason or another. I had 2 does that would eat everything but the pellet that was in the Textured we were getting I got ticked off and started mixing my own feed that doesn't have a pellet in it and they go nuts over there feed now.
I also found that kids take to a Grain Mix better than a Pelleted Feed, over all look, feed to weigh ratio is far better (there eating less feed and growing faster).

It is a textured feed and she occasionally nibbles on the corn but never really eats any of it.

I was using one mixed feed from the feedstore that about half of my girls didn't really care for, one wouldn't even touch it. I switched to a different mixed feed and now they ALL scarf it down. Sometimes it could be a bad batch or just that particular brand or the personal preference of the goat. :)
