O.K., I will talk to the people about this today. Hopefully they will agree with this suggestion----or maybe I could just go ahead and have him banded?

Maybe suggest 2 does if they eventually want babies. Maybe they dont understand about the buck thing. Female+Male=Adorable baybay goats, duh!.. :hu If it were me, and not too inconvinient for you I'd try and sell 2 does together and offer a breeding to the does by one of your bucks when they are ready and dryed off. (then you hope they dont keep a buckling baby and breed him back to the mama's though.) Or try and get them to take a wether instead of the buck. I'm doing the whole pet goats thing and I'd feel pretty bad keeping a buck with my girl!

I talked to the woman this morning and she was so nice about it all! :)

She does not want to get into breeding at all------she really wanted the doe for milk only and wanted another one just as a pet. So, there are several options open to her.

She can buy the buck and his twin brother and I can have them both banded before they leave, or she can buy the doe and one banded buck, or I have another buckling that won't be ready until the 20th that she can buy with the doe or banded buck and he can also be banded. The last option is that she can wait for the kids I have coming at the end of the month.

She is going tot alk to her son and call me this evening----whatever she decides is fine with me. I think I am going to have the 2 older bucks banded no matter what. :) From now on, I am planning on banding all bucklings before selling-----my goats aren't registered anyway, so don't have the bloodlines to pass on.

Based on looks alone, I would keep Maggie. But, if she is not getting along with the other goats, perhaps she would be happier with only a wether as company.
(I do so love her coloring and conformation, though!!)

Yes, she is a beautiful girl, but I really have to downsize a little before winter----hay prices are most likely going to go up. Besides, I may end up keeping a doeling from Flory or Trixie. :D

Just an update. The woman and her son ended up buying my doe, Maggie and a buckling that I banded before they picked them up last Friday. Now I have a woman coming to pick up that wether's twin sister who I have been calling Diamond Rae. This is going to be the hardest to part with yet. She's so pretty, and so sweet----but the worst part is that I had actually kind of decided to keep her just an hour or so before this woman called asking about her. I knew what the right thing to do was----you can't keep them all. Now my son keeps saying, "What if you never have another one that's white with blue eyes?" He's NOT helping things any. :(

Here's little Diamond Rae:

It's so hard because they're SO stinkin' cute!!! But we can't keep them all. You are doing a good job letting some go.... :( Even though it is hard....

I bet if you duplicate the breeding you will get another blue-eyed white. If you do, name her after me! Perfect Princess is a good name for a doe. Or you could call her Brat. Same dif. LOL..............

Well, I probably will breed the parents again----I don't know if I'd get another doeling as sweet as her though. Don't know about those names------can you see me outside calling, "Heeeeeere Brat!"?
