Will cream strainers work for goats milk?

My mum was remembering her childhood visits to her Uncle's dairy and said she remembered a cream strainer for separating the cream. So we went online and, yep, they exist

$30 on e bay!

So our question - as we are going to get our goats in just about 8 weeks time - is will a cream strainer work for goats milk or do they just work for cows milk?

I'm not real sure which type your talking about, but if it's the kind that is like a big bowl with a small circle at the bottom with holes in it, then ya, those work with goats milk. You get the filter disks that you put in the bottom and it filters dirt and hair out.

It was used not to filter hair and dirt out but to seperate the cream from the milk.

My mum remembers seeing it used on her Uncle's farm over 60 years ago and we were wondering if they work for goats milk too.

From what I understand you need one that has a setting specifically for goat's milk, since it is naturally partially homogenized and the fat globules are very different from those in cow's milk.

I don't have one so I can't say how well they work but you need one like the Novo Cream Separator. You can google that and you'll see the difference.
