Also we have 55 chicks (sexed, they are female) coming this friday. 55 more male chicks coming next friday.
For those of you wondering why we are getting so many roosters, we do have a reason. With the increasing price of everything, we are now trying to become self sufficient (at least, you know, hatching our own chicks). We currently have 280 chickens (counting the 60 we rescued) we will be getting rid of 40 in the next month which will put us at 240 chickens, add the 55 chicks (not counting any extras they send) and that puts us at 295 chickens. If you want guaranteed fertile eggs it's suggested that you have one rooster per ten hens, with almost 300 hens we would need 30 roosters. We are getting 55 male chicks and will be selling 25 roosters off to leave us at a total of 325 chickens (295 hens, 30 roosters)

I done have any chickens. I ordered 50 Cornish Cross chicks, they’ll be here March 16 or 17. Since they are meat chickens, they are terminal, so they don’t count. I still won’t have any chickens. LOL
