We have one goat, her name is Maybell who is quite the crafty little thing! We pride ourselves on our pen being pretty secure from critters getting in (or out!) so we were shocked to go outside one day to find 5 little goats trotting around the yard outside their pen! We were baffled as to how...
I would be careful with the bread. Too much can cause them to bloat and that is definitely no good. :(
I have Nigerian Dwarves which are about the same size as pygmies (4 does not bred, not lactating and 2 bucks) that get as much hay free choice as they want, various leaves and grass from the...
It is something you need to be very careful with. It honestly depends on the individual goat that posesses the horns. If he/she is already an aggressive or dominant goat, it might not be a good idea.
We had a girl that was second in command in the herd who had her horns still and everything...
I knew that microchips were unacceptable for ADGA, but from what I have read goats can either be tattooed or microchipped when being shown for AGS or NDGA. Am I inncorrect?
Currently, I am not affiliated with ADGA, only AGS and NDGA.
So my plans were to microchip all of my goats but only...
Hi! I am looking into getting a microchip reader and supplies rather than tattooing. Does anyone have a particular brand they like or recommend?
Or does everyone tattoo? :P
I love him.
He has great conformation, color, and pedigree! He was pricey...but he will make a great little herd sire!
Can't wait for him to come home!!!
:D:D:D
I use uship.com when there is a goat that I want that is more than about 3 hours away. :)
They are great! You post what you need and people bid on the shipment! I was going to get my baby (60+ lb baby...) flown over to me at a cost of over $300 but worked out a price with a animal shipper who...
Hubby and I are on 3/4 acre! (Looking for more, though!)
We have 6 little goaties, 5 precious dogs, 5 chickens, and 4 little kitties!
Moving soon, but we have been making it work for a year like this! :D
Poor little boy is gonna hate me!
But I really think it will make him feel better. :)
If it starts to bleed, do I just need to cauterize it? Or do I need to do something else for him?
Thanks!
Okay, my sweet precious little 9 month old Nigerian Dwarf Buckling has the teeniest tiniest little scurs...they are about an inch...more of nubs He absolutely hates anyone touching them, but I really don't think that they bother him. I think he is just kind of a spoiled brat and can get away...
