how to separate baby from doe

We have a small suburban lot and our goat enclosure is really only set up to be one enclosure. Our doeling is 4 weeks old and I would like to start getting more milk. I've heard to separate her at night. I only have 2 does and 1 baby. First, she wouldn't have anyone with her at night and second...

    pregnancy test?

Thanks, I'm kinda hoping to not have to spend a ton of money to find out, so a sonogram is probably out of the question anyway. Maybe a blood test. Or maybe I will just send her back to the buck and see what happens. *sigh

    pregnancy test?

We have a ND doe that we brought home about 3 weeks ago. We actually picked her out and left her at the breeder and they put her in with a buck for about a week. We ended up with our second doe and she needed a friend so we went and picked up our ND. The breeder never saw her go into heat...

    What color?

Here are a couple of pictures of Finley's eye color. In some light they look blue, but up close they have brown (but it's really light brown) in them. What color would you call this?

Thanks. That puts my mind at ease. :) And, I might pick up some beet pulp to see if that will put some weight on her.

    still bleeding a little

Our doe gave birth over a week ago (10 days) and is still bleeding slightly. ?? I notice it mainly when she is active she will drip a little. Not much, but maybe 1/2 teaspoon or so. Otherwise she is acting better than ever. We got her about 10 days before she delivered, so we are seeing a whole...

    goat udder question

I have a question about udder attachment. Our goat, Bella (1/2 ND, 1/4 Nubian, 1/4 Lamancha) has a pocket in the front of her udder where it attaches to her belly. I'm thinking that I heard somewhere that that is not good. I checked her when she was pretty empty though. Will that make a...

    post-kidding behavior/symptoms

My doe delivered Sunday with a rough delivery. She is still bleeding just a little bit. It's not much, and I think I read somewhere that this is normal. But, I wanted to double check with people that have been around a doe post-delivery. ?? Also, she isn't eating a ton. We have only had her for...

    too much wormer question

I dosed one of my does (not pregnant) with Ivermectin today and in the struggle to do it the lock came off of the tube and she ended up getting 3x more than she needed. Is this a problem?

    antibiotic question

Ok, so we just did our first delivery and the kid got stuck so I had to go in and help. The advice I was seeing is to do a round of antibiotics if you have to go in at all. So, my vet gave me penicillin. I really, really want to move toward a much more organic/holistic approach. What does...

    milk production?

Bella is producing way more than her 1 baby can eat. When will she switch over from producing colostrum to actual milk. I think I'm going to need to start milking her. I am currently just milking out into the bedding and want to start actually keeping the milk for our use since she is producing...
