We raise Miniature Jerseys. Good, registered heifers run between $2500 and $3500, bred cows from $3500 to $5000 and bulls about $1500. They are in big demand and we always have a waiting list for the heifers.
I asked my vet this question and his answer was "A twenty year old cow is a 40 year old horse (we are mostly horse people)." In other words, some do live that long with very good care, but they aren't the norm. That is the upper end of the range.
