We brought the sheep in this morning and then headed to Costco in Franklin. On the way home we stopped and had lunch at a Cracker Barrel.
This has been a really erratic breeding season this year and nobody really knows if it was the unseasonal heat or the fairly lengthy drought. We talked to...
Two more sets of twins this morning. I was really happy to see that our #92 ewe had given birth as she was about a month away from being culled since she is pushing two years old and these are her first lambs. We really would have liked to have gotten a ewe out of her but both lambs are rams...
One of Pepper's lambs didn't seem to have any idea of what she was supposed to do and even after a half hour or so of trying to persuade her to latch on to a teat, nothing happened. Teresa went to mix some colustrum and it turned out it was out of date so we went into town to get some...
We aren't quite sure what to think about our breeding and lambing results. There was 32 days in between the 1st set of twins born and the second set of twins and now they are being born in what seems like batches with Pepper being the latest with triplets.
They did a blood test and it was bacterial. This has been fairly expensive this year since this is the third time but we will do what we need to to keep him healthy.
The county got our water back on sometime during the night but it sure is nasty. There is a boil water notice at least temporarily but we still have plenty of drinking water left.
We need to take Mel to the vet tomorrow if we can get an appointment as he has battle wounds on his neck. I may have to put Mel in with the sheep away from Maisy. I think she is in bitch mode since she isn't in with her sheep and is taking it out on Mel. She is half his size but she can be...
We drove into Lewisburg about noon since we were almost out of drinking water. Forttunately, they had pplenty so we got a couple of cases of boftles and a half dozen gallon containers. We have well water but it is high sulphur and I can't drink it. We put a couple of tbs of bleach in each...
Our ewe Babs had twins this afternoon (ram/ewe). Babs was a bottle lamb that to this day will hang out with people over sheep if given a choice. She was born when @Baymule and BJ were here picking up a ram.
The country water system has completely ran out of water now. Literally, not a drop is coming out but we keep enough water on hand that we are good to go. We have all of the drinking water that we need and I have plenty of well water to use for flushing. The water started slowing down a...
