I had four lambs delivered this July 15th from a well known and respected farm in New York. They were all tested and proven disease free. The ride took 2 days and when they got here they were fine except for some road dirt...
Everyone was quarantined.
After quarantine, the ram lamb went into...
I'm over near Mammoth Springs. And have a whole bunch of Muscovies. Over 20 females left but butchered all but my one for next year's breeding. (I may have another one coming up from the last 3 eggs to hatch.)
@Latestarter The Ozarks are wonderful. Beautiful farms with land for very competitive prices. Low cost of living... We own land in the Missouri Ozarks (Oregon County 40 acres) and live in the Arkansas Ozarks (Sharp County 16 acres). Our taxes for our home are under $500 annually and our land...
Thank you. I've lost dogs before and it was so hard. I'd had them for eight years or more and developed a significant relationship with my dogs. The lambs' death took me by complete surprise. Blindsided.
Sure we were having a lot of problems with their health but we were on top of them. The...
I had to edit because my first photo didn't work right. It was a link. So I deleted that link and uploaded it again. This time it worked fine. Maybe try refreshing. I can see it fine. Let me know if it still doesn't show up and I'll try editing again.
We did make the hay feeder, actually two of them. They ended up costing about $150 each by the time I bought all the hardware and treated wood. The top hinges open for ease of replacing and cleaning out old hay. They're absolutely fantastic! The 'pan' sits about 8 inches or so off the ground and...
Tragedy struck. I lost Shawn and Shang on the same day, only hours apart. The vet told me that some animals that don't get a good start can have a 'failure to thrive'. My heart just broke into tiny pieces over losing these two little lambs.
When they arrived they were dropping worms in their...
I guess mine are well behaved because they've never offered to rub or jump on me. I stoke their heads (only the ewes) and the rams necks and I always have my hands all over their bodies daily checking for burrs and sticks or other uncomfortable items in the wool. They're always standing nicely...
I use fly predators, muscovy ducks, and chickens along with the fly traps. We get some 'big buzzies' that come around and scare everyone including the dogs. They're horrible. Luckily they only come around in late summer and don't stay long.
Thank you for your husband's service! And for yours as an Army wife! Hooaah
My son is a Lt in the Army stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He just returned from a year in Kuwait. Dang, those are long long years... I bet you can relate. Ashley is my daughter-in-law's name also. I bet you have...
Hi from North Central Arkansas. We're looking into pasture pigs for next spring. We want something a bit smaller but still enough meat for the trouble. An endangered heritage breed is preferred. I don't know anything about pigs so I'd be starting from scratch. The idea of pasture pigs is what...
We raise Finnsheep, Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats, Red Dorking Chickens, Muscovy ducks, American Chinchilla Rabbits and have a young LGD, two Cane Corsos, and a barn cat.
