    Books on Goat Training?

If you get a book on the principles of clicker training, it would be a good start. Training with markers/clickers is used across almost all species of animals with great success.

    Freemartin?

Okay, just wondered. Some people call everything hermaphrodites, and deny that freemartins even exist in goats. I had never heard of a freemartin goat, but since learning last fall that I have a freemartin goat, posts on FB have indicated that it isn’t quite as rare as I, having never heard of...

    Freemartin?

SBC, may I ask what your definition of a freemartin is, and if it’s different than a (pseudo)hermaphrodite? :)

Why are my goats hooves yellow?

All my does with white hooves turn yellow, especially when it’s wet out-they get stained with manure, etc. Nothing to worry about. :)

    Thiamine Hydrochloride

That’s the more concentrated thiamine, so around .5 cc for your 20 pound goats should be plenty. I’ve not heard of Dectomax depleting thiamine, but for CoRid definitely give thiamine during the course of that, and for a few days after. You can’t really overdose on thiamine, so don’t be worried...

    Thiamine Hydrochloride

What strength is the thiamine? (It should say something like 200mg/ml) Why are you giving thiamine? Do these goats have symptoms of polio?

    Legal question

Most of the time, when it involves animals on this small scale,(dog breeders, goat breeders, etc. Horse and other things like that are different though.) there is no legal strength to what the seller says or even the contract they make you sign.

How much supervision do cattle need?

I agree. Every two or three days is what we often do during the summer as well.

Hello from about 1.5 hours east of Portland! I’m so glad you became a member and are researching before you add goats! I didn’t, and it was a long, hard road for a couple years.

    Age of Buckling for Breeding

I’ve had some young bucks not show any interest until a doe actually comes into heat and is with him. It doesn’t sound like your does have started cycling yet this year, so I wouldn’t worry about you buckling yet. :)

What to do with horses during hurricane?

Try to get them away from areas that might flood. I’ve heard of several horses recently with severe problems thst they get from standing in water for a long time, and it’s ugly.

    Car Chasing

Shock collar, and nail him the minute he looks at it and possibly even just the moment you see the car, if that’s what it takes at first-by the time he’s running it will probably be too late for him to feel it, because his adrenaline gets pumping that hard. As he gets better he will become...

Breeding buck good and bad show me please!!

What, if anything, do you know about his dam and sire? That will weigh in almost as much as the buck himself.

Urgent! ND doe in labor too early?!?

Agreed. Early or not, that discharge is very concerning.

    Broken off horn/scur, exposed interior

I’ve had it happen a few times, though the stump was smaller. I kept it bandaged the first day(just to keep pressure on it and stop bleeding) and then just sprayed it with Blu Kote for the next couple of days.
