I know with GOS they don't do DNA. Parents have to be registered and the breeder has to register the litter. They have to have ear notches or an ear tag. And pictures of each pig are sent to the registrar.
Your in the northeast. There are several breeders in your area. Check the www.gosamerica.org website. Most do not sell their barrows. They raise them and sell pork.
I have Red (Sambo) boars and Green (Gerald) boars that are on the ground now, if your interested. If you still haven't found a boar you might just need to get a young one and raise it up. That is what I had to do. I will also have a black group sow farrowing soon.
I raise GOS pigs. I also have a few berkshire large black girls and a mulefoot large black girl that I will cross to one of my GOS boars. I love the personality and foraging ability of my GOSs
I pasture raise GOS pigs. I love their laid back nature and they are great foragers. Plus who can resist a pig with big floppy ears and black spots. You can check out my website www.HeritageSpotsAndFeathers.com Its still a work in progress.
Wouldn't high tensile allow little pigs and chickens to easily wander into neighbors yards or worse the road! I plan to pasture some broilers with the pigs and goats.
She did not have any discharge until today. And it is a lot. Her tail is coated and even the back of one leg is coated. It is bright red with a grayish tint. If it was a small amount I don't think I would worry as much. I would say it is as much if not more than I would have on a first day...
Thanks!
She is at 102.7 so no fever. Gave her the Dura-Pen. She actually taped out to be 105lbs. I'll continue the dura pen for at least 5 days. If there is no improvement in 3 days I'll pick up the Pen G. Dura-Pen has 2 different types of Pen G.
Thanks
She kidded 2.5 weeks ago. She had triplets and when I got there one was dead. Not sure if he was still born. I saw her deliver the afterbirth and a bit later it was gone, I assume she ate it.
Well today she has bloody discharge coming from her vagina. Almost like a period but a bit grayish...
Anyone ever use this brand? Currentlly I am using red brand goat fence but since we are moving and going to be buying at least 6 new 330' rolls. I would like to save some money. I'm looking at the one that says for exterior fences. It is about $70 cheaper a roll than the red brand. We also...
Gretchen is a kiko meatmaker. She has been very large since the end of December. I thought she would go at any time. As the time went on, I started expecting triplets. And then about 8pm on Valentines day I checked on her and there they were. 3 little white babies. One was not moving, the...
I haven't seen her scratching it. It is the bottom edge of the backside of her ears. So a hard spot to scratch. I got her at about 4 weeks old and she is now about 9 weeks or so. She hasn't been wormed that I know of. I know he gave her some antibiotics and stuff when he first got her at 7-10...
It is not white. The skin is just peeling off hair and all. She is in a wooded area in an old dog lot. About half of the area is covered with a carport. I tried to get some pics. Forgot to put the camera in macro. So they are a bit blurry. I'll try to get better ones tomorrow.
Here is...
The skin on the back of my calfs ears appears to be peeling off. Any idea of what this could be? She had it when I got her a month ago and as she has grown it has gotten a bit worse. I'll have to try to get a picture.
