Has anyone heard of or used Teff hay for their horses? Our feed store just started carrying it. They say it is good for horses but I was hoping to find people who are not bias to give me their opinion.
Well Easter is eating and pooping again! Whew Who!! Thursday we noticed his eyes looked funny though. We went to the vet Friday and she said his gut sounds good, no teeth problems and a good weight. He does have an issue where his eyelids roll in a bit and he got a double eye infection. She said...
Easter is still doing good. I'm off to the store to get some Kale and Parsley to help with eating. I'm also fencing off a bed room so he can have run of it and get more exercise to see if that helps as per a rabbit web site. I'll be calling the vet in a bit its still to early here to call. No...
We did not know we needed to help with his hair. He is mat free. We started brushing him tonight. We do know enough to keep his nails short and have blocks for him to chew to keep his teeth down. What do you do for a hair ball and what are the signs? Also we live in southern Arizona and don't...
He is not grinding his teeth. He is drinking because we have been watching. I tried a new food and he has eaten a little of it. We also gave him some alfalfa treat sticks and he eats the whole thing. They are about 2in long and about as big around as a dime. He is still pooping. The size is...
we have a 1 year old dwarf lion head. Up until a few days ago he was eating fine. Pellets and timothy hay. Then all of a sudden he stopped eating. He is drinking water still and is running around acting normal. He will eat fruit and celery. I'm not sure what type of lettuce is safe to try. I...
My husband and I are going to look at a horse tonight that was posted on CL. The person said that he has lost a lot of weight in the last month. They have wormed him and had "someone look at his teeth" and they said they "didn't look to bad" They are giving him away because they are unable to...
We have three milk does. 1 Alpine 1 Nubian 1 Saanen. We love our big goats and the amount of milk they give us. The Saanen is now a pet because of on going breeding/birthing problem and we are having trouble getting our Alpine bread. Nubian is fine. The Opportunity fell into my lap to day to get...
Lol Ok well I wont complain ever about our temps!! I would never survive your temps!! Well I would but I would never leave the house and the goats would probably end up in our kitchen!!
Lol I'm a worrier too! Made the husband go out tonight and put in heat lamps. The lowest our temps will get is 32-34 lol but I feel like I'm cold so they must be! Plus the poor guy had to make sure they were secure and safe otherwise I would worry they would burn themselves.
I asked my husband and he's not sure the weight of what we are feeding. We just shred it up for them and dump a bunch in each feeder. We have a few pens due to some of the goats don't get along , our buck etc. I think it is about 1 1/2 to 2 lb per goat though.
We just eyeball it but it is about 2lb per goat in the am and in the pm. Only our does get grain on the milking stand. They all seem to be a good weight. We have a little wether (Nigerian) who use to look pregnant lol I guess people call it "hay belly" but since the chaffhaye it is gone. I...
Yes I was able to talk to the owner (Kimber) directly and she said that the bags were "newer" and had not fermented as long as the bags I had used previously. She was very nice and very concerned. Assured me that it was ok to feed to my goats and even went so far as to have a pallet of bags...
We have 1 Alpine she gives a gallon per day but her personality is not very friendly (to us or the other goats) and she is stubborn! Next we have a Saanen who gives a gallon per day also and is very sweet and loving. She seems a bit "slow" shall we say and likes to stop and smell the roses lol...
