Don't chase them as that makes the trust issue even more difficult. Try having a bucket with some sweet feed and see if you can get them to come. If not just place the bucket on the ground and step way way back... They will know you brought it when they are done just pick up the bucket and go...

minus 10 is cold ...I have llamas and do not blanket them but here in NC it will not get that cold. So on the coldest days it might be a good idea to blanket them. Watch for impacted ice in the hooves.

This has to do with age and responsibility ....you see the outcome if you get hurt so the fear creeps in. If this horse is kid safe then go slowly and get up and ride, your fear will subside after a few short rides. Enjoy him!!

Get a feed that is specific for llamas ...sweet feed is not good for them. Feed them a good quality hay and if you are getting 2 llamas you will need about 1/2 acre minimum for them to roam. Good luck!!
