2024-2025 Sheep Showing

Feed her extra, away from others. Making milk is a huge draw on these girls. If she eats slower, the kids and other ewe may be getting more than their share. I've had success with adding a cup of shredded beet pulp to the individuals feed....when milking. While you're home, a mid day meal could happen for her. And I aim for 16%. Forage balancer or alfalfa pellets...or hay...are ways to do.

How is the other doe looking?

About the same? Pictures are from June 27th. Aria was born Oct 2019 and this is her 5th lambing.

I put a half bag so ~25lbs in the creep feeder every 3rd day when it is empty. The bars in gate are out so the ewes can eat. I can't lift a full bag right now. :(
I can see if the feed store has 16% feed or alfalfa pellets next time I get more feed.

I have ewes that put it all in the milk bag and they look bad. They bounce back after weaning. To help them out, sometimes I give them corn or black oil sunflower seeds, or both.

Aria and Oreo don’t look bad, but with showing Oreo, you want her plump and smooth and she is putting it all in her milk.

Another interesting issue. When the put Socks 's validation tag in, they punched right thru the inside portion of her flock ID. Pretty sure this will cause her ear to rip as she grows. The validation tag is good for 3 years.

I just noticed the inside tag is wrong number too! :he I think I can fit tiny shears in there to cut green inner tag off the button. Sigh, next year I will put flock IDs in opposite ear.
