Thank you Dana, my sister and youngest girl and Grandson will take on some of the farm stuff,mainly checking the sheep and feeding the dogs and chooks. I do have folks who assist me through my Home Care Package and I will get them to assist me and local friends who have offered support.

The medical team in charge of the surgury are using the latest technolgy to help me and it seems that the outcomes have improved in recent times. I should be back home in 8 days and although I am required to rest at least I will be able to direct things......T.O.R.

All of my hub's brothers (3) have had prostrate cancer. Their dad prob had it too....

But they are all AOK and are in their 80's and late 70's. You'll be fine too!!

It's Prostrate Cancer and quite advanced and so the decision has been made to under go surgury on the 16 Janurary to remove the whole thing, I have been told that complete recovery for someone my age could be 12 months.

I'm so very sorry to hear that. I came here to see if I screwed up the time on the broadcast today. Not what I expected to find. Take care and hopefully good health will return soon after the surgery.

My DD had the same surgery. Just take it easy afterwards and mind what the doctor says. Who will be helping you with your sheep and farm?

Women have 2 small glands that are the female equivalent to a male's prostate... and they can get cancer in them... and they can affect things like urinary incontinence and trouble with urine flow... Called skene or skine or something if my memory serves me right.
Supposedly they are of the same "material" that a man's prostate is formed by...

I am so sorry to read of the prostate cancer... BUT.... My grandfather had it, had surgery, and it was another 20-25 years that he did fine... had it when he was 60's... passed away at 89 I think... and although you are in the older range, you are very active and healthy so hopefully it will be a medium sized blip on the radar and then you will be back to "doing" again. So very glad that you have some family and friends that can help out...
Do what the doctor says, but don't let yourself be kept down too much either...

DH had prostate cancer about 17 years ago. It was the fast-growing kind. Most prostate cancers are slow growing. He had surgery, then several years later had to have radiation. He is doing great and makes sure to have his blood test for PSA levels every year. Recovery from the surgery itself takes about a month or so, and you will have lots of follow up appointments for the first year to check your PSA level. Hopefully you will be back on the farm and in the recording studio fully recovered soon. It is amazing how good the new cancer treatments are.

We will be praying for you, and waiting to hear you back on your program. Your trip to the US wil be back in the planning stage before you know it.

Glad to know you are "alive and kicking"... was wondering how things were going but with the holidays, thought it might be a bit before you posted. Sometimes this electronic/digital/pie in the sky networks is a real royal PITA.... at least you are not in the middle of getting winter weather right now like we are.....
