Can you report the bear to game wardens? Do they do anything to bears that raid chicken coops?

It’s year of the bear. There have been a few sightings here - haven’t had any in the 30+ years we’ve been here. This town used to be called Bear Valley - but had to change because there was a Bear Valley somewhere else.
@Alaskan - damn sorry about the chickens - we can out build coyotes, but can’t imagine what would keep a bear out.

We got a bear tag... if we see it we will eat it.

You have to not only use electric, but each individual bear in the area has to be trained to respect your electric.

Bears are so well insulated, if they don't put their nose or tongue on the hot wire, they don't care.

Just easier if you keep bears trained to stay away from people by NOT baiting them.

So... while my chickens were being eaten... I was not even home! Kid #4 and spouse are home.

Kid #4 found a second dog crate...

So, my one injured black sex link, 1 year old, is in her own crate, we shall see how she does. She is missing some skin on her back... but can walk around etc..

The rest still alive:
1 RIR female 1 year old
3 Chamois Spitz females
ALL SIX Spitz MALES!!!! All!!!
My old lady hen, 8 year old Marans cross

So... WOW... the males are cowardly beasts??? Didn't lose any male Spitz.

I lost about 10 or 12 Spitz girls and 1 one year old EE hen.

I lost everyone in the separate bantam coop, 1 male and 4 female bantam Wheaten Ameraucana


And, on BETTER news.. the reason I am not home, I went with Kid #2, his bride-to-be and also kid #5 to Kodiak where Kid #1 is at seminary... the bride-to-be was baptized at the seminary this morning.

It was wonderful.

Man, I'm so sorry. Bears are hairy pigs and they are terrible. I hope you get him. Once they learn it'll be going from coop to coop in the area killing and eating all the chickens and won't stop until it's last breath.
