Maybe what you really need is a pond. Since you'll need to put the dirt you dig out somewhere, how about where the barn will go?

I have a pond in the middle field and in the back field. Don’t want another one in the front field, 2 is enough. I’d rather have the grass.

She should retain the color but it will probably lighten up. We have one that was that color when she was born but as she grew out it lightened up to the point where her color is about like a penny, which happens to be her name.

Got busy before I finished coffee. Sentry found another turtle and I had to go get it. He really hates them. And @Bruce you think I need to put in another turtle resort??? Nope!

I hauled off the turtle plus yesterday’s turtle. Then a friend came to set a round bale for me, using son’s tractor that I can’t push the clutch in, standing on it with both feet.

Now I can have my second cup….er…. GLASs of coffee! It goes well with 3 scrambled eggs with orange bell pepper and red onion.

I was replying to the post about digging a pond & using the dug soil to build up a dry place for the barn... didn't realize that there had been several posts in between.
Still... maybe a good idea? What about deepening the ponds you have to get the soil needed for a high-ground barn?

Do turtles make good backfill?

With the pretty brown ewe, you could always dye her darker. What was the brand that advertised "because I'm worth it"? LOL

That could work, I dug out a LOT of rocks along with "pond bottom" when I dug mine deeper. Could make good fill for leveling if I needed to do what Bay needs to do.

I would have to hire a backhoe, or buy one small enough for my 23 HP tractor. It would be cheaper and faster to have dirt delivered and spread it with my tractor. One of the ponds was dug out and made deeper.
