heated up some Hamburger Helper. I haven’t made that in years. I’m remembering why.
2 things I decided to give a second try after many years, was right to not have done so earlier:
  • SPAM
  • Moxie (soft drink)
1 thing I used to like a lot, saw it in the store, first time in probably 30 years.
  • Clearly Canadian ("fruity" water) - now? I have NO idea how I liked it way back when.

Ugh. We used to have regular water line breaks in our neighborhood. First, no water. Second, countless calls to find out how soon water would be repaired. Third, more calls. Forth, turn on outside hoses so when water came back on it would clean the lines before coming in house.

If the muddy water has come into the house, you will have to unscrew the aerator attachment on all the faucets to clean them out. Sometimes the muddy water clogs the toilet attachments and makes the toilets run continuously.

No fun! :somad

It was clean enough to take a shower last night. I never turned it on, so no mud crud. I didn't come in until after 8:00 last night. I was soaking wet, hot, dirty and needing that shower. I checked air in truck tires, have a tire with several plugs and it leaks. Aired up tires. Carson ALWAYS rides to go hitch the trailers. He won’t get out, in the field. It’s a big deal to him. Hitched up stock trailer, pulled out on driveway. The 20 yard roll off box is still sitting here, I backed trailer between it and a big stump. Didn’t hit either one, followed curve in driveway, didn’t hit my car, and backed it up to the shed where the air compressor is. I was kinda proud of myself. Checked tires, added a little air.

Chris came over to check alternator, it had a low reading after putting in new batteries. I drove it to the nearby small town and filled up, so new batteries and alternator had an opportunity to get acquainted. LOL. Alternator reading was where it was supposed to be.

Going to haul 2 ginormous hogs to slaughter this morning. This couple doesn’t have a truck and trailer and didn’t know what they were going to do. They live about an hour from me, so I’ll get an early start. Naturally I woke up at 3 AM.

I did my good deed of the day. We got one hog loaded, but the barrow was obstinate. The boiled eggs didn’t work, he wasn’t hungry. Grapes didn’t work, he was more interested in rooting up the Bahia. Finally got some feed and he went in for that. After unloading the hogs, I stopped at a car wash to clean the trailer. Got home, let Sentry in, let Carson in, moved Sheba and Buford to front yard. Fixed myself a coke float and took a long nap.

just came in, heated up some Hamburger Helper. I haven’t made that in years. I’m remembering why.
I can't stand it by itself. I use as a base for my "goulash". 2 things are necessary. 1, 2 pds of meat not 1. 2, add a box of mac and cheese. I used to fix it at least once a chuckwagon race. We camped out for several days and it'll fill up a large dutch oven.
Next things that are optional, personal or whatever you have on hand.

A can of beans. I like the ranch style. Probably should be #3 on mandatory.
canned tomato's
can of cream of mushroom soup
green chili's and/or enchillada sauce
potatoes if you need to stretch it or feed/freeze more
you can really go wild with anything after that base, it just makes so much, you need to be feeding an army or freezing a lot of individual meals.
Canned goods are good for camping. Of course you can use whatever is coming out of the garden at the time.

Make your own. Brown the meat, add seasoning, add the liquid, macaroni, cover and simmer 10 min. đź‘Ť. Same process as box. Easy.
The wifey who only fixed microwave dinners before we meet had done this and it was SOOOooo much better than hamburger helper.

Spam I love spam. It's also canned and one of my prepper things. If I can't go shopping tomorrow shtf? I can still have spam and eggs. I think it last forever??? I just need to rotate some of my stock around. Hard to do with the camper and house full of canned goods.

I couldn't find a smiley so here's a pat on the back. ;) :)
