What kind of pigs do you raise? I lived in Lindale 7 years until 2022 and I was always looking for 2-3 feeder pigs. I’m not set up for pigs here yet, but I want to raise pigs again.
We got into Kunekunes, and now realize that we don't want to wait 18-24 months for meat, even though they do eat way less than most other pigs. I'm raising up what we have for meat, and selling my registered male and pregnant female. If I ever do breeding or feeder pigs again, I think I'm going to go with IPPs, since they are also a true grazing pig but they grow faster and you can get meat in 8-10 months. I will miss my Kunes though, they are the sweetest!

Watched Houston weather. Most of the time they don’t mention my county and they didn’t this morning. But they showed all of East Texas and I’m in the 4 to 6 inches rain band. This goes from Sunday night through wee hours of Thursday morning. No wonder I’m sloshing around. Both Houston and Tyler news is warning of flooded roads.

Edit: neighbor Just texted they emptied 4 1/2” out of their rain gauge. And more to come. I bet we get darn close to that 6” or more by Thursday morning.

Do you have swales to capture the water or dammed up some of the ravines?
Capture all you want, the ground will take it until either put pond liner down or have a herd of sheep pack it down repeatedly. Right now no I don't have that, I put my life on hold for past almost 3 years building this pole barn, don't even have a pickup to drive in town. The wife does and a vehicle I that kept running for, I got a truck, but needs front end redone and has been down waiting ever since.

You can seal a pond using hogs if your soil is porous and doesn’t hold water. Their wallowing and poop, seals it. Rain comes, raises water level, they wallow and seal that layer. Butcher hogs, get piglets, start over.

I was thinking sheep, cause well there is a roller called a sheeps foot for doing what I needed done and guess where that name came from.
