As of 4:30 I got 2 3/4” of rain, still raining. I was going to go to church but the road in front of my place was so bad, I was sliding. I thought about trying to get home in the dark and it still raining, so I turned around and skidded back to my driveway.

One of my piddling little things yesterday seems to be helping. I dumped dirt and raked it under the gate to the front field. Rain runs down the driveway, takes a right under the gate and through the night pen. It helped.

It helped route water around the night pen.

Pen is still muddy but at least it’s not a running river through there. It’s more like an overflowed creek. 😃 The shelter inside is mostly dry.

The other shelters in the middle field are successfully mostly dry. I put a lot of dirt in them to raise the level higher than the pen floor. I’m gonna call this a win.

Logging truck just went by. Guy at end of the road drives a logging truck. Now I’m really glad I turned around and came back home. I’m sure that truck cut deep ruts.

I remember constantly ditching and building dams at my place in California. We don’t get enough rain here to make puddles or runoff. I miss my home but I don’t miss the extra work during the downpours
