The rain let up just a little, a few ewes went out on the field. That made Buford antsy, wanting to go to work, but the rain picked back up and they are going back to their shelters. I put a towel down for Buford. This resulted in fruit basket turn over as Sheba claimed the new towel, Sentry took Sheba’s towel and both growled at Buford. Sheba went back to Carson’s bed, leaving 2 towels empty. Dog pack politics. Poor Buford, he just can’t win.

Reminds me of living in Washington state over in Forks WA, we would get over 120 inches a year and average over 200 days a year with rain. Misery is the only word I could come up with. I moved from the rain forest to high desert, imagine that.

Thought about digging a spot out and put a shelter down then bury it with a opening facing to the southeast, natural insulation from the elements.

On premises.com there was a guy that cut big trees, cut in lengths so he could dig, set them standing up, high enough for him to be able to walk inside. He dug out a hill side to build it. He laid logs across the top, wrapped the whole thing in water proof membranes and covered it with dirt. It was his hog barn, kept them warm and sheltered in the mountainous region in Austria.

Yeah these trees grow so slow it's crazy so I don't chop them. For about $110 a block I can buy retaining wall blocks 2' x 2' x 6' that weight 3300 lbs a piece I can use. For the roof all I need is a few small I beams and then put some 22 gauge roofing sheets on top with a billboard vinyl over it to carry any water away that seeps through the soil. I also can roll square tubing and make a half circle shelter and fasten those metal sheets on too, they call them Supersteel out here, it's what they use on buildings for the roof then pour concrete over it.
Lastly I have a frac tank in the picture I can chop up more than I already have and do the same with a reinforcement beam down the middle.

Not a fan of pork too much, too much salt in them mostly.
I think you are talking about commercial store bought stuff. I don't think the pork I get from the local farmer is salted at all, other than the bacon of course. And I think I would notice, we hardly use salt at all so any quantity would be noticeable.

Poor Buford, he just can’t win.
Low dog in the pecking order.

WAY TOO MUCH RAIN! Maybe you could drill a deep well shaft and let all that water drain into the aquifer ;)

As of 3:15, total rain is NINE INCHES.
I fed early, during a break in the rain to just a drizzle. I got a round bale set for the sheep. I fed the Anatolians in the open front shed to give the the idea that it’s ok, they can sleep there. I opened the gate to the middle field where the sheep pens are. If they hear a threat, the dogs can run the field.
