Going out on a limb here - esp if the food is costly and you can't get samples to see if he will even EAT it.
There has got to be a homemade diet for this that you can cook up and freeze in sandwich bags. Many years ago one of my dogs had kidney issues, she was a working dog and the "experts" would not take that into consideration - they'd only work within the lines of what a pet dog would need. Spent $ for a consult, got basically nowhere - and ended up working things out on my own. On their diet she was "dead dog walking", on mine she was happy and still got to work.
~maybe you can find something you can cook up.
Great idea!

Chewy has 3 oz cans and dry. It IS $$. $.87an oz we and you do need a prescrt to buy. Maybe vet has canned? Reviews were outstanding! Good eating it and work for problem.

I received a $20 off a $49 order coupon from chewy...you can have it.☺️. PM your addy if you use that buy source. Check valley vet, too.

There are things you can give goats for this, maybe for cats?

You can get a 3.3# bag dry from chewy $33..

Citra-vet$24.95, a supplement from Valley Vet. Depends on type stone or crystal he has....could dissolve or prevent more. There should be something beside the expensive food. Yes you'd have to use a special diet, reduce magnesium, salt, etc....which could be done with cooking.

Maybe a combo of 1x RX food, other cooked 1x....talk to that vet. RX for a month, then blend???

Posting just because :)

Yes, it's hot. And the mowing is at LEAST a week behind.

But....

There are 2 lovely cows grazing their way across my yard.
Munch, munch, step, tail swish, munch

The storm blowing in is creating dramatic cloud shapes... and a nice breeze.

The chickens are busily scratching at the overgrown whatever that weed is in their pen. Darting in & out around the chicken-high clumps mumbling in their chicken talk as they collect random bugs.
Rustle, rustle, rustle, Buurrrrrrr. Burr, cluck, rustle, rustle

Humming birds are squeeking & trilling up in the memosa trees as they fight over who each of the hundreds of sweet smelling blooms belongs to.

There is a low, steady insect hum in the background that is so constant its almost invisible to my ears; punctuated here & there by a chirp from a passing bird or the buzzzZZZZZzzzzz as some random bee or beetle flies past.

Yep.... it's hot, and the mowing is way behind.... but I don't really care on THIS particular day

Have gotten a dose of humbling perspective over the past few days.

My sister in law lost her beloved 15yr old cat.. her only pet and the last thing that she had that had belonged to her life before becoming a widow. A dear friend, who is a nurse, has been the caregiver of her elderly Dad for several years. He passed this past Friday. They are dealing with that while also caring for their granddaughter who starts preschool this week. The sweet friend who helped me build Birdie's kennel lost one of her beloved basset hounds last night - from happy senior hound to gone in less than an hour - bloat, she thinks.

I haven't figured out how to be able to leave Birdie in the house alone.. but she's safe in the kennel whenever I'm away. My sick cat will require care & probably special food for the rest of his life but he seems to be improving day by day. My pastures are green, my fences are strong. I have a reliable job & a steady paycheck - there aren't many 'luxuries' but neither me nor anyone under my care has ever gone hungry. I have good friends who care about me and try to care for me (when I let them). My home is comfortable & has met every need that I've asked of it - including being able to shelter friends & family, and an occasional stranger, either long term or just for a few days.
I am forgiven & blessed. I have loved Isiah 41:10 and clung to it since my husband passed
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you
I know this isn't what the 'right hand' references mean - but I like to think that when it says that, it's a reminder the Creator Of All That Is is telling me that He is not just 'around', and not just 'near', but right by my side.. so close that He can hold my hand.. and is even telling me which hand, in case I can't feel it at the moment.

We should ALL stop to see our blessings, as you have outlined. In our busy lives it's easy to overlook how "well off " we are, thinking we need more. Taking stock of all we need being "there" is a positive step to contentment. Losses are a realty of life.

I love the passage you have quoted. It's truth. 💕🥰
