Good luck with all the various jobs.... yep, take a job and then you can get some time for looking, if it doesn't ring the bell... the last one I am sorry didn't work out... but it did get you out of the other job that was starting to really work on you. The "new job" obviously was not what you thought it could be, and seemed like they did not do as good a job training as they could have.... and so you go forward...
You will find something that will work.

You have several good possibilities coming up. Excited for you to find something you really love. Then you can do more painting, build up your stock. and go to some craft fairs. Some extra income for you there too. Getting the matting from your friend is great! matting the paintings will give them a very professional look without the bother and expense of actual frames. And make your inventory lighter to transport.

And, once again, from zero to sixty ... from application submitted to offered & accepted in 24hrs.

The original temp-to-hire position in a manufacturing plant where my friend works fell through.
But yesterday I saw another posting, same company different position. What the heck, I submitted an application.
While I was doing that, I got a text from my friend asking if I would be interested. I texted back that I had already applied.
While I was doing that, a text came in from the temp agency telling me that this position was very little admin type work (which is what most of my resume is) & was I actually interested & when would be good for a phone interview? I texted back that I was - that my previous 'admin' job had me walking 3-4miles a day between In & Out windows - & that we've already done a phone interview for this same company but that I'd be happy to talk to him again anytime.
While I was doing that I get a text from my friend saying that management just asked her if her friend might be interested in the plant job. I told her to tell them that I had already applied & to tell them YES.
While I'm doing that, I get a text from the temp agency saying that an interview isn't necessary, that I'll be getting a call from someone at the plant to let me know the details of the job & that he'll be in touch again later.
Shortly after that I get a call from..... my friend! 😁 To tell me all the particulars:
In the actual plant
No AC, hot & humid
Lots of walking
12hrs shifts 7 to 7
Not sure yet if it'll be am or pm
Rotating schedule of on 2 off 2 on 3 off 2
And we ARE NOT to let on that we have been friends for years.
It's not my ideal working conditions - but once I'm in & trained I can much more easily move to something "better" and at this point I'm getting desperate enough that ANY income beats none.
Then this morning I get a text asking if I can be at orientation at 9:30 Thurs. I put off responding because I'm supposed to have an interview with the county at 10am Thurs & I'm trying to decide what to do.....
5 mins later the temp guy calls to ask if I got his text. Tells me that if I can do the orientation Thurs, my start date will be MONDAY AT 8AM.
✨🎉✨

So I'm out in the yard breaking in the last pair of new boots that I got before leaving the dump.

I'm really unsure how this 55yr old desk jockey body is going to handle an "On your feet all day in the heat" job.... but I'm thankful it came along & I'm going to give it my best.

I like that you'll have income from this. Though I'll step in and put in a slightly different word....
When I was working I did change jobs, but was careful as to how many and how often. At a certain point having many jobs in a short period does not look good (doesn't matter why).
So just putting that out there as food for thought. I don't know your financials I'm not giving advice one way or the other. If it were me, I'd say I couldn't start on Thursday with the orientation - but I could on Friday. It's an honest statement and you don't have to say why. Go to the county interview and see if it is as good as you though. Perhaps it's a match, perhaps not. If you reschedule it you'll have to take time off from the new job - not good and not easy.
It's Wednesday now so I'm sure you've made your decisions. Again - I don't know you're bills etc so you have to consider that. Also consider the length of employment at different companies. Especially for less than a year. Perhaps the times have changed on this - I've been out of that loop for quite some time.

It's official. I start Monday at 8am for training. The machine I'll be running is basically a HUGE loom. There are 2 separate jobs & I'll train for both. One is monitoring racks with hundreds of huge spools of fiber to be sure none run out & to estimate when they WILL run out so we can coordinate changing them out in a single shut down. This is part of a team of 4.
The other is running the machine that turns all those strands of fiber into a fabric. Monitoring tension, making sure no strand jumps into another's space, breaks & loops, etc & communicating with the folks working the racks about when to shutdown for replacing spools.

Each stage of certification comes with a raise & within a couple of months I'll be making the same I was at the dump.

He said that they plan to put me on the night shift once I'm certified - that brings an extra dollar/ hour.

For any of you that have worked nights.... how terrible is it really?
I'd be gone from about 6:30pm to 7:30am. Figuring.... sleep till about 2.... do the stuff around here that - to be honest 🫣 , hasn't been getting done until almost 2 lately anyway. Feed everyone around 5 as usual. Head to work at 6:30.

I'd get a 4-day weekend every other week. Get at least 2 weekdays off every week.

Birdie is the only one who will be really effected by the change. She'll have to sleep outside in the kennel on my work days. This summer... that will be a plus as it'll be so much cooler, right? Something will have to be worked out by next winter....

I'd let the chickens out when I get home, lock them up when I leave. Practically no change for them.
Cats & Birdie get fed around 7am & 5pm now... so little change for them.
I was considering retiring Eva from breeding this year before all of this happened. Still considering it... so a milking schedule may not even need to be considered. But if it does... after the first month of 2x daily I always drop to 1x daily & that can happen whenever we train/condition for it... mid-morning, early afternoon.
