Out early - cloudy and temps in the low 50s! 👍 - loving the clouds and cool -sometimes called May gray - I'll take it! Obi and I took the sheep down to one of the fill slopes that we hydroseeded last year with the dryland pasture mix. The last week there's been an explosion of mustard! It's taller than me - at least the sheep like to eat it. No - it's not part of the dryland pasture mix. The story goes that the missionaries dropped mustard seed as they traveled up and down Cali so they could find their way from one mission to another. Aaaanddd this was the first invasive species introduction in Cali - way back in the 1700's. While I'll admit the yellow ( -mustard seed also has been found in the adobe bricks of the missions - hmmm yellow brick road?!!) is pretty, it's a #*#$# to walk through.
Need to run to the PO to pick up a package, and get to the hardware store to get some new gloves (wore through the last pair).
Have a great one everybody.

Up and doing coffee....haven't gotten much further.🤣
There's chores...then probably go to work today...or tomorrow? I'm liking this less "job" waaaay too much. :old

I did walk the garden area yesterday. Animals have helped keep most of the growth down so far as grass -- looks ready for a till. I need to mow another field before I switch out attachments. Rain coming Saturday. Wondering if I can get mow and till worked into next 2 days, if I go to a job it's a no. But could do jobs, mow and till Monday. Yeah, better plan since I'd then have Sun to prep, Mon till, 2 more days then to plant. 👍🤞. Decision made.

Second cup now. 😁

I'm heading out to bush hog last of old crap off last pasture needing it...finish between today/tomorrow. Pulled mail as I came in from work and had new property assessment 😱:thup 33.48%. OMG at current rate, they just increased taxes over $65 a month...waiting for new tax rate to happen next month. No doubt that will increase. Not good news. NOT!!! :old:idunno😡

Wonder who can increase my income to keep up with all these costs?? Groceries, feed, gas, taxes...makes you want to scream!

And now -- debt ceiling crap with USA default. All I can say is you had better cut EVERY POLITICIANS salary before my SS CK. 🤬

In Texas, each county sets its own tax rules. In Lindale, Smith County, we had 8 acres. I filed for Ag exemption. It took 5 years before they gave it to me. Also homestead and senior citizens exemption. Senior citizen exemption froze our taxes. In fact, they depreciated the mobile home, and taxes went down each year.

Now in Trinity County, got a gung-ho young snot with a big head, all impressed with himself. I filed for the exemptions. Got a new assessment, it states PLUS any new improvements, so I guess when I put up my barn, I’ll be down there arguing about how much it’s worth.
