Food out is VERY EXPENSIVE EVERYWHERE.... I am eating more and more at home too... and groceries are getting higher too... Luckily I don't have to buy much... and I try to look at the "discount " stuff... like the lunch meat and stuff... Sometimes they have good markdowns at Sharp Shopper too... but I hate to make a 30+ mile trip (one way) there... so try to combine it with a trip to a farm or when I have several things on a list to do.
I also hate eating out alone... so will get things to go and then can get 2 or more meals out of things....
Ditto. But really have buckled down more in past 2 yrs. Sometime I think I want something, think of time to drive, gas, what's already at home and go cook! 🤣 I'm certainly not going hungry!! Freezers & pantry full.

So tensioner pulley wasn't only issue...seems another one may be also. Prob one helped other overwork? Plus truck  is 20 yr old. 😔 We stopped on it at 11pm. Today start again. Not good surprises.

Coffee time almost over. I have work to do. A weaner field to check, get ready for these boys. Another round up. Feeder & water tubs to move. All things I was trying to avoid/ bypass. 🤣 Didn't work.

Chores await. Extra moms to bring in and milk now. If I had pigs now, I'd just dump it there! 🤔. But better cheese it. Yeah, full day to work thru here.

@Grandmas Barn . Thanks. But I don't stress easily, so long list but I'll do what I can, then reschedule. Came in for a break. Had biscuits and sausage for breakfast, so I'm good for a challenge. 🤣 Chores done, 1.5 gal of milk in freezer to chill. Goat boys next to work....I'm moving along while still cool out.

On cup two. Sheep are already fed and out. I need to rebait the squirrelinator - the little pile of corn is gone! Yay - getting those squirrels used to dining in the thing. Once they're through one more pile of corn I'll set up the one-way doors. This year I should be ahead of them in the game of figs! It's always a learning thing.
Another cool and cloudy (started out slightly rainy and foggy) day.
It's been a slow growing year - though I've been lucky with seeds that should have sprouted months ago (and I planted them early) are finally up and some harvestable - beans, more lettuce, etc. At my friend's yesterday we went in her greenhouses which are normally a jungle this time of year looked more like they did last March/April 2022. SLOW year. Makes me wonder what it will be like in the summer.
Going out to dinner with DH tonight - should be good, we used to go out all the time, now it's a little better than a rare occasion - between the $$$ and the trip down the hill we pretty much stay put.

Fed rabbits myself this morning and cut some comfrey leaves I am dehydrating to make tinctures and salve. Hope it helps our pain. TheMan and I have both been pretty useless and crippled up

Baymule, can you throw up a cattle panel shelter real fast? Ours just took a few t posts, 3 cattle panels and a 12x16 tarp. It’s all mine ever had
Yes, I have 3 small animal Quonset huts, a hoop shelter with a tarp over it, pallets and tin on north end, and a pallet shelter with tin over it. In hard rains, water runs through them, the pen is wet and muddy. The ground is low. They don’t have a dry place to lay down. I closed on July 15, moved sheep August 29, had knee replacement 3 weeks later. Then I stressed all winter because the best I could do wasn’t good enough. They WILL have a dry barn before winter rolls around again.

I don't know much about sheep, so I'm totally spitballing here..... but would it be a feasible thing to build a floor/deck something to raise them up? Even just for 1 season until you can get that dream barn buttoned up?
Maybe some pallets on the ground filled/ covered in sand or gravel?

It would turn into an unholy mess. I’d rather channel my energy into something permanent. Build it and build it right to the best of my abilities.

Thanks for the coffee. I was so tired that I fell asleep watching TV at an early time, woke up enough, and stumbled off to bed at 11:30. Woke up at 6. It’s going to be a rainy week, not necessarily here, most times rain just teases and falls nearby, or it could be Noah’s flood. Who knows? One thing for certain, it’s gonna be HOT.
