Hot tea this morning, had a yearning & buttered biscuits, warmed from yesterday. Lazy morning. Overcast -- rains late day, which we could use but, nothing heavy they say. Never know until it happens.

Truck still apart 😖 needs to get fixed!! Working on it. One of those WTH noise things to find. ???

Time to go milk. Have 2 gal in a pot to warm for cheese this morning. May need to work up 2 more gal for refer room 😳 prob 3 gal fresh coming in today. Overkill but, pull kids, you gotta milk 'em. Meat breeds wean & dry themselves -- not dairy so much.

Better get a move on.... :frow

Well, @canesisters ... any news on any little "touch the fence and fall on their knees" type of reactions with the little darling????.
I haven't actually seen any interactions with the new fences.
However, the calf is spending a lot of time inside and I haven't seen Eva within several feet of it. 🤞

When we were done replacing polybraid Saturday I was heading to the far side to put the tester on the end of that pasture's line and my Sister was nearly in the house when a fennel leaned over in the breeze & touched the fence. It "SNAPPED!" so loud that my sister yelled "OH My Gawd!!! Are you ok!?!!?" :celebrate
I'm a little glad that I didn't get to watch the calf's first touch.. it probably would've made me tear up.
.... served her right!! but still ...

Had a great dinner out last night. It'll be awhile until we do it again. Enjoyed.
Coffee down, scone gone, sheep taken care of.
BIG change happening adjacent to us. Looking like the 40 ac avocado grove is being taken out. - between the water costs (no decent break for ag ) and NAFTA (allowing all the Mexican avos to come though) the avo farmers keep folding under the weight of $ and gov no giving a whit about them. It's been a long time coming, but gov has destroyed ag in the county - one dairy herd left (used to be A LOT -- 100?? in the county) and this county used to be responsible for over 90% of the US avocado crop. No more. Another one bites the dust.
There's a machine in that grove right now that is like a "weed eater" that is mowing through the grove. Sounds almost musical as it rips through the trees :confused:. I'll try to snag some pics when it's closer to our fence line.
Dang - and that really makes me wonder WHY did they have a helicopter dust the grove a month or so ago?? Seems like a waste of $$.

Well ya' know --- little corrections are pretty useless. One big one is way better than tons of little ones that end up teaching them the little zap is worth the reward on the other side!

I need to rebait the squirrelinator - the little pile of corn is gone! Yay - getting those squirrels used to dining in the thing. Once they're through one more pile of corn I'll set up the one-way doors.
Just don't the dogs near it when it is full of squirrels! LOL

Maybe they found a marijuana farm in the middle of the grove and are tearing it out. Homeless encampment? Cartel operation? None of those would be as bad as a HOUSING TRACT!!! :somad

Keep us informed please!

Nah - nothing in the middle of the grove other than avo trees. It was sold a few years ago (4 high producing wells on the property too). The farmer that bought it is (or at least was) a bit of a curmudgeon - driving his truck along our drive I stopped him and asked what he was doing and if I could help. He groused at me he was "the farmer" and that I probably liked all the avocados and picked them. My reply was quick and fast - We've got over 60 avo trees on our ranch so I don't need his, and if he'd told me first up he was checking his grove our first encounter would have been much more friendly. He groused, got in his truck, slammed the door and backed out the way he came.
I ~think~ grapes may follow as he did plant about an acre or two a couple years ago. Praying that a housing development doesn't go in (already checked and no permits have been pulled).
For now I hope that machine doesn't throw tree chunks into the house (sheep already are running into the barn - can't blame them) and we'll be on hyper alert for snakes and coyotes. Sad to think some hawk nests will fall as well.
