A windy wet and blustery day here. First day of 6 in the next 10 days. So far 1/4 inch of todays prediction of 1.45 in.
Sheep are all cozied up in the barn on fresh shavings. Still waiting on 2 ewes to lamb. Staying inside today (with a few trips to the barn to feed) catching up on putting things away that the clean-up-fairy didn't do. Heck that clean-up-fairy doesn't do anything, think I need a new one

I must have your clean up fairy’s sister. She ain’t worth a bucket of warm spit.

Good morning all, coffee's ready. It's supposed to be a wet weekend here. 1"-2". The high spots are dry and cracking while the ditches are still full and a muddy mess if you got in them. I had to use the ranches buggy/side by side to do half the feeders yesterday. I didn't fill them last week and have been waiting on the ground to dry out enough to drive the truck out there. I was hoping to fill them last week when it was frozen but the truck wouldn't start. :barnie :he

Have a good weekend ya'll.

The enjoyment of my coffee is almost as much the aroma of it brewing as the first hot cup to drink. Do they make coffee candles ? 🤔🤔🤣 Well, I said almost -- this cuppa hot sure hits the spot.👍 Smells good, too! I need bright light. Can't wait until it's summer and the morning cup of brew can be enjoyed on the porch in warmth. 😊 Just memories for now.

I managed to waste away the day yesterday. Awoke to sun and decent temps. By late morn it was clouds and NE winds that bite thru all the layers. Cold is one thing, backed by winds another. Had picked up a lot of "stuff" that had blown in and around (trash trucks earlier in week) and had to give up chasing paper & plastic. Did get things like water tubs cleaned, filled -- feed tubs cleaned out and some fence areas measured, etc. no projects begun.

My hens have started laying in earnest now, although it's like an Easter egg hunt. A doz a day is a bit much for me but I love to collect eggs and family/friends love the gifts. They're colorful finds🤗. Blue, green, browns...not one white egg layer in the flock. Need to get them shuttled back to the hen house, not the barn. Retraining time....

Of course, a Baker Creek seed catalogue came a couple days ago. I'd forgotten I'd asked for it. But flipped thru it yesterday. Colorful, entertaining, some exotics but, nothing I need, want, don't already have. 🤷 Still enjoyed looking.

Better move along here. Don't want to waste another day.

Thanks for the coffee @CLSranch it sure is good. It stormed last night, hard rain on the tin roof woke me up several times. It’s stopped, puddles everywhere, slowly soaking in. I’ll get outside in a little bit and get chores done. I blocked off the driveway last night so the Anatolians could get in the open front shed and stay dry.

I’ve got two things that must get done. I’m picking up baby meat chicks Wednesday. It’s a 3 hour drive one way, but if they shipped, they would come in Saturday and I’ll be gone. So I’m going go get them. I have to get their tubs and lights ready, water, feeders and feed. I’ve got to sew together the pieces I cut out of BJs shirts, a stuffed lamb for middle granddaughter’s birthday this coming weekend. After chores this morning, I’ll be working on sewing.

Yesterday was hopefully forgettable. Lots of pain involved and TheMan had to feed dogs and critters on his own (I’m a critter too) A little nervous about what I might find…he put 50 lb of flour on top of the dog food containers 😳 No telling what is facing me outside. Mama #2 is ready to kindle. Hopefully this isn’t another false pregnancy for her…
As for me, my hands are a bit better after a steroid injection. Putting me back on MTX. Hopefully I do better with pills. I despise injections. I want to finish painting the kitchen and I want to make sone more bread, since we are out of it. Sourdough should not hurt me, since stretch and fold is a lot easier than kneading. The boys were up wanting breakfast at 0dark thirty and are already outside playing. This is after Fen woke me up with a quick foot lick 😂 Funny how just one quick slap of tongue to ankle can help you levitate out of your sleeping place!! 😂

I love your daily one liners, usually involving Fen.

Our first storm line completely missed us, was wondering why it was dry, well no wetter, pre-sunup. The next dwindled down to almost nothing before it hit. Cracks in the ground and mud holes feet away in some places. I really need a rent pasture for next winter so the grass can get caught up for once. Shade to keep the water in the summer and root systems to send it on down in times like now. Planted turnips or beets (can't remember which) in the wetter spots last year, had a bunch but no noticeable difference. Hopefully they're helping. I'll do some more soon. 50's up to 50's today so not bad at all.
